MBA Fees in UK for International Students 2026 to 2027

UK MBA prices vary from comparatively accessible programmes to premium global business schools, so an “average MBA fee” can mislead. International applicants should compare tuition, programme format, duration, work-experience requirements, placement charges, scholarships and living costs. This guide uses current official examples checked on 24 July 2026.

Quick answer: For 2026/27, Abertay University lists £19,950 for international students on its Global MBA, Bournemouth University lists £20,000 for its MBA starting in September 2026 or January 2027, Bangor’s international fee schedule lists £20,500 for MBA study, and the Oxford MBA brochure lists £88,800 tuition. These examples demonstrate the spread; they do not define a minimum, maximum or guaranteed price.

Official 2026/27 MBA fee examples

Programme example Published fee Important context
Abertay University Global MBA £19,950 international annual tuition Eligible international students may receive an automatic scholarship stated as £3,000–£7,000; verify individual eligibility and net fee.
Bournemouth University MBA £20,000 international tuition September 2026 and January 2027; optional placement is charged separately.
Bangor University MBA £20,500 Published in the 2026/27 international fee schedule; confirm the exact MBA route.
University of Oxford MBA £88,800 tuition September 2026 start; travel and accommodation for international electives can be additional.

The comparison is deliberately broad. Price alone does not measure teaching quality, network value, career fit or return on investment. It does show why applicants must name the exact course before discussing cost.

What an MBA budget should include

  • Full tuition and whether the figure is charged per year or for the programme.
  • Tuition deposit, payment dates and any instalment plan.
  • Living costs for the programme’s real duration.
  • Visa application, Immigration Health Surcharge and travel.
  • Optional placement-year tuition.
  • International study trips, electives, residential modules or company visits.
  • Laptop, specialist software, books and professional memberships.
  • Career events, interview travel, formal clothing and networking costs.
  • A contingency for exchange-rate movement and emergencies.

Full-time, placement and executive formats

A conventional full-time MBA may take around one year, but some January-start or placement versions run longer. Executive MBAs are designed for experienced professionals and often use modular delivery, travel and employer sponsorship; their fee structure should not be compared directly with a standard full-time MBA. Online and blended MBAs can change accommodation needs but may have different visa implications. Confirm attendance mode, campus location and Student visa eligibility before applying.

Deposit is part of tuition

A university may require a deposit before issuing a CAS. Treat it as the first tuition payment unless the policy says otherwise. Bournemouth’s 2026/27 policy states £5,000 for most countries and regions, with a higher amount for specified regions. Other universities set different values or percentages. Read refund terms for withdrawal, deferral, course cancellation and visa refusal before transferring money.

Scholarship comparison: calculate the net fee

Record four things for every award: amount, eligibility, duration and combination rules. Abertay’s current page says eligible international Global MBA students may automatically receive a £3,000–£7,000 scholarship over the course. That does not mean every applicant receives the maximum. Only subtract an award once it is confirmed in writing.

Use this equation for a clean comparison:

Net academic cost = tuition + compulsory academic extras + placement fee − confirmed scholarship.

Then add living, immigration and travel costs separately. This prevents a scholarship headline from hiding a higher base fee or longer stay.

Questions to test MBA value

  • Does the curriculum match your target sector and leadership goals?
  • Is prior managerial experience required or strongly expected?
  • What are the cohort profile and class size?
  • Which career services are available to international students?
  • Are internships or placements guaranteed? Usually they are not.
  • What do published outcomes measure, and over what period?
  • Does the programme carry relevant institutional or professional accreditation?
  • What is the realistic total cost after scholarship and living expenses?
  • How will the degree fit your career plan in Nepal, the UK or another market?

Student visa maintenance is not the complete budget

Current UKVI maintenance figures are £1,529 monthly in London and £1,171 outside London, for up to nine months, subject to the rules on the application date. An MBA applicant should still budget for the full stay, especially where induction, placement, international modules or post-course housing extend beyond nine months.

Planning from Nepal

  1. Shortlist by academic fit and experience requirements before comparing price.
  2. Download or save the exact 2026/27 course fee page.
  3. Check deposit, instalment and refund policies.
  4. Confirm scholarship in the offer, not from an old promotional post.
  5. Price realistic accommodation and transport in the chosen city.
  6. Prepare a funding plan that does not depend on uncertain part-time work.
  7. Use official payment channels and keep every receipt.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest MBA in the UK?

There is no stable national answer. Fees change by course and year, and the lowest tuition may not produce the lowest total after duration, location and travel are included.

Is an MBA placement guaranteed?

No. Where a placement option exists, students normally compete for roles and may pay an additional placement-year fee.

Do all MBA applicants need work experience?

Requirements differ. Many traditional and executive MBAs expect substantial experience, while some programmes accept earlier-career applicants. Check the exact admissions page.

Can an MBA scholarship cover living costs?

Most tuition scholarships reduce fees rather than pay rent and daily expenses. Read the award terms and build a separate living-cost plan.
