A UK bachelor’s budget is more than one tuition number. Nepali applicants should calculate tuition for every academic year, expected annual increases, accommodation, daily living, visa and health charges, travel and course-specific extras. This guide uses current university information checked on 24 July 2026 and shows how to build a safer 2026/27 budget without treating one university’s price as a national rule.

Quick answer: International undergraduate fees vary by university and course. For example, the University of Reading lists 2026/27 annual overseas fees of £25,850 for non-laboratory subjects and £30,650 for laboratory or workshop subjects, while its integrated foundation first year is £23,000. De Montfort University lists £17,800 for its 2026/27 Adult Nursing BSc. These are official examples, not a universal UK range. Always use the fee in your own course page and offer letter.

What makes up the total bachelor’s cost?

Annual tuition: the published international fee for your exact course and entry year.
Future-year increases: many universities reserve the right to increase fees after year one. Reading says relevant fees may rise annually with CPI, capped at 4% under its stated 2026/27 contract terms.
Living costs: rent, utilities, food, local transport, phone, clothing and personal spending.
Immigration costs: visa application charges and the Immigration Health Surcharge at the rate applicable when you apply.
Up-front payments: any tuition deposit, accommodation deposit and advance rent.
Course extras: equipment, studio materials, field trips, professional checks, uniforms, placements or travel.
Nepal-side costs: English test, academic documents, translations where needed, remittance charges and flights.

How to calculate a realistic multi-year total

Write down the confirmed first-year tuition from the course page and offer letter.
Check the university’s fee-increase wording. Model a modest increase for years two and three rather than multiplying year-one fees unchanged.
Add any foundation year, placement year or year abroad separately.
Build a monthly living budget for the actual city and multiply it by the months you expect to live in the UK.
Add one-off costs such as visa, health surcharge, flights, deposits and setup purchases.
Keep a contingency reserve for exchange-rate movement, annual fee changes and emergencies.

For illustration only, if year-one tuition were £20,000 and you modelled a 4% annual increase, the tuition line would be £20,000, £20,800 and £21,632 across three years, or £62,432 before living and other costs. This is a planning example, not a prediction or university quote.

Tuition budget versus Student visa funds

The financial evidence required for a Student visa is not the same as your real spending plan. Current UKVI maintenance figures are £1,529 per month in London and £1,171 per month outside London, for up to nine months, subject to the rules and exemptions that apply on the application date. Your real accommodation contract and lifestyle may cost more or less. Build both a visa-evidence worksheet and a separate full-year cash-flow plan.

Create one sheet per offer and compare the same fields: exact course length, first-year tuition, stated increase rule, scholarship conditions, deposit, refund terms, city, accommodation contract length, placement fee and estimated living cost. A larger scholarship does not always produce a lower net cost. Subtract only a scholarship confirmed in writing and note whether it applies for one year or every year.
