IELTS Speaking Test Preparation for Nepali Students
Prepare all three Speaking parts through recorded attempts, criterion feedback and flexible idea development rather than memorised scripts.
Practise the interaction pattern and the four criteria together
Speaking preparation works when you can respond naturally to unfamiliar wording, extend relevant ideas and remain understandable without depending on a memorised answer.
Learn the official interaction before practising. The official IELTS Speaking format lasts 11–14 minutes, is recorded and has three parts. Speaking is the same for Academic and General Training. Part 1 asks about familiar matters such as home, studies, work and interests. Part 2 gives one minute to prepare a topic-card talk, followed by up to two minutes of speaking. Part 3 develops related issues in a broader, more analytical discussion.
For Part 1, answer the question directly and add a relevant reason, detail or brief example. Do not turn a simple question into a memorised speech. Build flexible language around real areas of your life—study, family, routines, places and interests—then practise different question forms. Record short sets and check whether hesitation comes from ideas, vocabulary or grammar. Natural self-correction is possible, but repeatedly restarting a sentence can weaken continuity and make the answer difficult to follow.
For Part 2, use the preparation minute to create a route rather than write full sentences. Note a setting, people, sequence, two useful details and why the experience matters. The card prompts can guide the talk but do not need to become four disconnected mini-answers. Practise speaking for the full long turn with a beginning, development and ending. If one planned detail disappears, paraphrase and continue instead of stopping to recover a memorised line.
For Part 3, move from personal description to explanation, comparison, cause, consequence and qualification. A useful response can state a view, explain the reason, give a relevant example and consider an alternative. Listen carefully to the exact scope and ask for repetition when genuinely needed. Practise follow-up questions that challenge or narrow your answer. This builds the ability to analyse and speculate rather than producing a prepared paragraph that does not fit the examiner’s question.
Review all four criteria with recordings. The official Speaking band descriptors cover fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation. Mark pauses, repetitions, unclear links, forced vocabulary, repeated grammar errors and sections that require listener effort. Correct one or two patterns, record a new topic and compare. The goal is transferable communication—not accent imitation, a script or an unsupported band prediction.
Start from evidence
Match the class plan to your current score profile, application requirement and realistic test date.
Review the feedback
Useful feedback explains the error, links it to an IELTS criterion and gives a concrete next practice step.
Prepare for delivery
Build language skill and the computer workflow together before a timed official test.
Use this checklist before paying or booking
Ask the centre for current written information. The table turns general marketing language into verifiable questions.
| Check | Why it matters | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Part 1 | Familiar-topic interview for 4–5 minutes. | Direct answers with natural extension. |
| Part 2 preparation | One minute to plan the long turn. | Use keywords for route details and sequence. |
| Part 2 delivery | Speak at length on one topic. | Maintain structure when wording changes. |
| Part 3 | A broader 4–5 minute discussion. | Explain compare analyse and speculate. |
| Fluency | Continuity and coherent development matter. | Track pauses repetition and repair. |
| Vocabulary | Range must remain accurate and flexible. | Practise paraphrase and collocations. |
| Grammar | Simple and complex forms need control. | Review repeated errors in recordings. |
| Pronunciation | Speech should be understandable without effort. | Work on stress rhythm chunking and sounds. |
| Mock interview | Interaction changes how answers develop. | Use unfamiliar follow-up questions. |
| Feedback cycle | One performance cannot show transfer. | Correct then record a new topic. |
What makes the MKS IELTS learning system different
Classroom teaching, revision, independent practice and longer support work as one system instead of separate add-ons.
Three learning modes
Choose physical, online or hybrid learning and confirm the current timetable that fits your routine.
Recordings for every mode
Physical, online and hybrid students can revisit lessons and catch up on missed work.
iOS and Android access
Continue structured IELTS practice beyond the live class through the MKS digital system.
Physical books
Use organised print materials together with digital practice instead of scattered files.
Six-month access
The eight-week guided course connects to six-month learning access and continued support.
Multiple suitable classes
Students needing more repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge.
Keep every section inside the same improvement loop
Attempt, diagnose, correct, repeat and retest. Your overall goal should never hide a required section minimum.
A balanced weekly routine
- Review Listening distractors, spelling and paraphrase recognition rather than only counting correct answers.
- Track Reading accuracy by question type and add timed sections only after the method is stable.
- Use the official Writing criteria to revise task response, organisation, vocabulary and grammar.
- Record Speaking answers and review fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation without memorising scripts.
- Keep an error log and use the next mock to test whether the correction actually worked.
Before enrolment
- Confirm Academic or General Training and the required overall and section bands.
- Ask for the current timetable, fee, inclusions, teacher-feedback process and access period in writing.
- Test the commute, device, internet and study hours needed for the chosen class mode.
- Ask how the centre handles missed classes, weak skills and a test date later than the live course.
Before the official test
- Check the authorised test partner for current dates, locations, fees and delivery options.
- Use the same computer workflow and timing that you will face on test day.
- Book only after your reviewed practice evidence supports the planned date.
- Keep the application deadline and result-delivery time inside the booking decision.
