GRE Verbal Reasoning Course in Kathmandu
Develop Verbal performance by reading for structure, using sentence logic and proving why every selected answer is supported.
Verbal preparation must connect words with reasoning
Knowing a word helps, but the correct answer still depends on sentence logic, passage purpose, evidence and the exact task directions.
Start with a diagnostic that separates the three major question families. Record whether each miss came from vocabulary, sentence structure, contrast or continuation logic, passage mapping, inference, main idea, function, author attitude, multiple-selection rules, timing or careless elimination. A total Verbal score cannot tell the teacher whether the student needs language rebuilding, reasoning instruction or a better passage workflow.
Build vocabulary in context. Learn meaning, connotation, common relationships and an example sentence, then retrieve the word through spaced review and use it in Text Completion or Sentence Equivalence reasoning. Do not memorise a long synonym list as if all words were interchangeable. The surrounding sentence determines the role and tone, and the correct options must produce a coherent meaning under the grammar and logic of the text.
For Reading Comprehension, read for organisation before detail. Identify the passage purpose, shifts, claims, evidence and viewpoints. Match the response to the wording of the question and require textual support. ETS cautions that an answer can be true yet still fail to answer the question completely. For multiple-selection items, all required choices must be selected and partial credit is not awarded, so every choice needs independent evidence.
For Text Completion, predict the logical role before becoming attached to an option. Use transition words, sentence structure and relationships among clauses to establish whether the blank continues, contrasts, qualifies or causes an idea. In multi-blank questions, the completed sentence must work as a whole. For Sentence Equivalence, the two selections must create sentences with equivalent meanings; choosing two loose synonyms is insufficient.
Add timing only after the method is repeatable. The current GRE has two Verbal sections with 12 and 15 questions and 18 and 23 minutes respectively. Use short targeted sets, reviewed mixed sets and full timed sections. POWERPREP helps students practise movement, marking and review within the computer-delivered section. An error log should link each mistake to a new evidence rule and a fresh retest rather than merely record the correct letter.
MKS Education can organise the Verbal pathway through physical, online or hybrid classes, recordings in every mode, iOS and Android practice, physical books, eight guided weeks, six-month access and continued support. Students needing more vocabulary or reading repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge, subject to schedules and seats. MKS cannot guarantee a Verbal score, graduate admission, scholarship or assistantship.
Diagnose first
Use an official-format baseline and classify Quant Verbal and Writing errors before choosing weekly priorities.
Match the goal
Connect the test date and preparation schedule to official programme and funding deadlines.
Verify claims
Use ETS and official university pages for changing format, fees, dates and score-use policies.
Turn the comparison into checks you can verify
Use the same questions for every provider and save the written answer. A transparent system is easier to compare than a headline promise.
| Check | Why it matters | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Diagnostic split | Different question families require different repair. | Reading Text Completion and Sentence Equivalence. |
| Vocabulary meaning | Recognition alone is fragile. | Definition connotation usage and retrieval. |
| Sentence logic | Connectors reveal relationships. | Contrast continuation cause and qualification. |
| Passage structure | Organisation guides efficient rereading. | Purpose claims evidence shifts and viewpoints. |
| Main idea | A detail can be true but too narrow. | Whole-passage purpose and scope. |
| Inference | The answer must follow from the text. | Necessary support not outside knowledge. |
| Question function | The task controls relevant evidence. | Role purpose tone and author attitude. |
| Multi-select | Partial selections receive no credit. | Evaluate every option independently. |
| Text Completion | All blanks must form one coherent sentence. | Predict roles before testing options. |
| Sentence Equivalence | Two answers must create equivalent meanings. | Logic plus paired outcomes. |
| Timed section | Method must survive the clock. | 18 and 23 minute section routines. |
| Error review | Correct letters do not explain improvement. | Cause evidence rule and fresh retest. |
What makes the MKS GRE learning system different
The live class, revision, independent practice and extended support work together instead of ending on the last teaching day.
Physical online and hybrid
Choose a suitable mode and confirm the current timetable for Kathmandu or remote learning.
Recordings in every mode
Physical, online and hybrid students can revisit difficult concepts and recover missed work.
iOS and Android practice
Use structured GRE practice and review through the MKS digital learning system outside class.
Physical books
Follow organised print material alongside app practice, teacher guidance and official ETS resources.
Eight weeks plus six months
Eight weeks of guided teaching connects to six-month learning access and continued support.
Multiple suitable classes
Students needing repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge, subject to schedule and seats.
Practical next steps
- Separate vocabulary gaps from reasoning and timing errors.
- Build words with meaning connotation context and spaced retrieval.
- Require passage or sentence evidence for every selected answer.
- Retest corrected skills in fresh timed mixed sets.
Mistakes to avoid
- Do not treat GRE Verbal as a vocabulary list only.
- Do not select an answer merely because it is true.
- Do not accept loose synonyms as a Sentence Equivalence pair.
- Do not rush passages before the evidence process is stable.
Prepare for the GRE General Test students now take
ETS lists one 30-minute Analytical Writing task, two Verbal Reasoning sections and two Quantitative Reasoning sections in the shorter computer-delivered General Test.
Analytical Writing
One 30-minute Analyze an Issue task assesses clear ideas, reasons, examples, organisation and written control.
Verbal Reasoning
Two sections contain 12 and 15 questions with 18 and 23 minutes respectively.
Quantitative Reasoning
Two sections contain 12 and 15 questions with 21 and 26 minutes respectively.
Build your GRE plan from diagnostic evidence
Bring target programmes, the earliest deadline and a recent official-format diagnostic. MKS can organise an eight-week guided plan with flexible modes, recordings, app practice, books, six-month access and continued support.
Verify current GRE information
What question types are taught in a GRE Verbal course?
Preparation should cover Reading Comprehension, Text Completion and Sentence Equivalence, including single-answer and multiple-selection directions where applicable.
Is vocabulary enough for GRE Verbal?
No. Vocabulary supports the work, but sentence logic, passage structure, inference, task wording and evidence-based elimination are also essential.
How many GRE Verbal sections are there?
The current General Test has two Verbal sections with 12 and 15 questions and 18 and 23 minutes respectively.
Can I improve GRE Verbal through online classes?
Yes, when live teaching, recordings, feedback, vocabulary retrieval and timed practice follow the same structured process as physical learning.
Does MKS guarantee a GRE Verbal score?
No. MKS provides teaching, practice, review and extended support, but cannot guarantee an official score, admission or funding.
