Qualification check before test preparation

GRE Preparation After a Bachelor Degree in Nepal

A bachelor degree from Nepal can start a graduate-study plan, but eligibility, prerequisites and GRE use must be verified programme by programme.

Degree evidence prerequisites GRE policy

Separate graduate eligibility from GRE readiness

The useful sequence is qualification research, document preparation, programme-specific GRE policy and then a measured section plan.

List the exact Nepal qualification first: awarding university, degree title, duration, major, completed credits where available, graduation date, grading scale and relevant courses. US institutions decide how international academic records are evaluated. Some complete the review internally, while others may request a particular credential-evaluation process. Follow the official international graduate admissions and department pages; do not purchase a third-party evaluation unless the institution asks for it.

Check degree and prerequisite rules independently. A programme may accept the bachelor qualification but still require calculus, statistics, programming, laboratory work, research methods or another subject foundation. A GRE Quantitative score cannot replace coursework that the department explicitly requires, and a strong Verbal score cannot replace missing academic writing or language evidence. Record the eligibility rule and prerequisite evidence for every target programme.

Verify the GRE status for the exact intake. Required, optional, accepted and not considered are not interchangeable. If submission is optional, decide whether the measured section profile adds relevant evidence to the transcript and experience. If scores are not considered, use the time for stronger application components. Never rely on a general claim that all US graduate programmes require the GRE or that a particular Nepal degree automatically receives a waiver.

Collect documents while preparing. EducationUSA notes that graduate applications vary and require advance planning. Request official transcripts, degree or provisional certificates and any certified translations under the institution’s instructions. Keep name spelling consistent across the passport, ETS account and applications. Also map recommendations, statement, CV, portfolio or research evidence and English-proficiency rules so one missing item does not delay submission.

Use POWERPREP for a realistic starting profile. The current shorter GRE contains one Analytical Writing task and two sections each of Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning. Classify errors by concept, reading, language, reasoning, timing and carelessness, then select weekly priorities that fit the eligible programmes. Work backward from the earliest deadline and remember that ETS currently makes official scores available 8–10 days after testing before additional delivery and matching time.

MKS Education can review the programme matrix and diagnostic, then organise eight guided weeks with physical, online or hybrid attendance, recordings in every mode, iOS and Android practice, physical books, six-month access and continued support. Students needing more repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge, subject to current schedules and seats. MKS cannot determine degree equivalency or guarantee a score, admission, funding or visa.

Diagnose first

Use an official-format baseline and classify Quant Verbal and Writing errors before choosing weekly priorities.

Match the goal

Connect the test date and preparation schedule to official programme and funding deadlines.

Verify claims

Use ETS and official university pages for changing format, fees, dates and score-use policies.

Evidence table

Turn the comparison into checks you can verify

Use the same questions for every provider and save the written answer. A transparent system is easier to compare than a headline promise.

CheckWhy it mattersWhat to verify
Nepal qualificationThe institution needs an exact academic record.University degree duration major credits and dates.
Degree eligibilityThree-year and four-year degrees may be treated differently.Official institutional and programme rule.
PrerequisitesAdmission may require specific prior study.Courses credits grade thresholds and experience.
Transcript routeSubmission methods vary.Portal upload official copy and final record.
Credential evaluationNot every institution uses the same service.Only the evaluation officially requested.
Name consistencyMismatch can delay score and document matching.Passport ETS and application spelling.
GRE policyTest use differs by programme and intake.Required optional accepted or not considered.
Section relevanceA total can hide the useful evidence.Quant Verbal and Writing separately.
English evidenceGRE does not replace language policy.Official accepted tests exemptions and validity.
Application evidenceEligibility and selection use more than GRE.SOP CV letters research portfolio and experience.
TimelineAcademic documents can take time to issue.Request date deadline and score buffer.
Decision authorityOnly the institution evaluates the degree. No equivalency admission or funding guarantee.
MKS Education: MKS can help organise the GRE study plan around verified programme eligibility and deadlines, while the university retains authority over qualification evaluation, prerequisites and admissions.

Eight weeks of guided teaching connects to six-month learning access and continued support.

Multiple suitable classes

Students needing repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge, subject to schedule and seats.

Practical next steps

  • Document the exact Nepal bachelor degree and relevant coursework.
  • Check eligibility prerequisites and transcript rules on official pages.
  • Verify the GRE and English-language policies for the intended intake.
  • Use a POWERPREP baseline to build a deadline-aware section plan.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Do not assume every Nepal bachelor degree is evaluated identically.
  • Do not order a credential evaluation unless the institution requests it.
  • Do not treat GRE scores as a substitute for missing prerequisites.
  • Do not delay transcripts and recommendations until test preparation ends.
Current test context

Prepare for the GRE General Test students now take

ETS lists one 30-minute Analytical Writing task, two Verbal Reasoning sections and two Quantitative Reasoning sections in the shorter computer-delivered General Test.

Analytical Writing

One 30-minute Analyze an Issue task assesses clear ideas, reasons, examples, organisation and written control.

Verbal Reasoning

Two sections contain 12 and 15 questions with 18 and 23 minutes respectively.

Quantitative Reasoning

Two sections contain 12 and 15 questions with 21 and 26 minutes respectively.

Build your GRE plan from diagnostic evidence

Bring target programmes, the earliest deadline and a recent official-format diagnostic. MKS can organise an eight-week guided plan with flexible modes, recordings, app practice, books, six-month access and continued support.

Can I take the GRE after a bachelor degree in Nepal?

Yes, but first check whether the target graduate programme uses GRE scores and whether your exact degree and prerequisites meet its current eligibility rules.

Is a three-year bachelor degree from Nepal accepted in the USA?

Policies vary by institution and programme. Only the official university evaluation can confirm eligibility, so do not rely on a general promise.

Does the GRE make my Nepal degree equivalent to a US bachelor degree?

No. GRE scores and academic qualification evaluation are separate; the institution decides degree equivalency and prerequisite satisfaction.

Do I need a credential evaluation for US graduate study?

Only if the institution’s official instructions request one, and you should use the service or process it specifies.

How can MKS help after my bachelor degree?

MKS can align a diagnostic-based GRE plan with verified programmes and deadlines through flexible classes, recordings, app practice, books and extended support.
