GRE Test Dates and Appointment Booking in Nepal

Begin on the official ETS schedule page. Select the GRE General Test or the General Test at home where available and appropriate, then enter a city, area or postal code and a date range. The system returns current locations and dates. Do not publish or rely on a permanent list of Kathmandu centres or appointments because availability can open, fill or change.

Create one ETS account using the name that will match the identification document required for the selected testing location and citizenship. Read the current ID policy before payment. A mismatch can create serious test-day problems. Review the test type, centre address or at-home option, local date, reporting time zone where shown and payment summary before confirming.

Work backward from the earliest programme or funding deadline. ETS says official scores are available in the account 8–10 days after the test and notes that institutions also need delivery and processing time. Leave a sensible buffer rather than placing the first attempt immediately before a deadline. Check each university programme’s official GRE policy and deadline because requirements differ.

Use preparation evidence to choose the date. Take an official-format diagnostic, set weekly milestones and review a timed POWERPREP practice test before committing to an aggressive appointment. A seat that is available soon is not automatically the best date. Conversely, waiting without a written plan can create avoidable delay. Balance readiness, application timing and live inventory.

Understand the retake rule without planning to depend on it. ETS currently states that the GRE General Test can be taken once every 21 days and up to five times within any continuous rolling 12-month period, including when a previous score was cancelled. Retesting also involves another registration and must still fit deadlines and available appointments.
