Use the live ETS fee page and checkout as the payment authority because official charges, services and exchange-rate effects can change.
The registration date and selected services determine the ETS payment
A Nepal rupee estimate can move with the exchange rate and card charges, so keep the official USD amount, conversion estimate and local course budget as separate lines.
ETS states that GRE fees are in U.S. dollars and are subject to change. Its live fees page currently shows USD 220 for all areas other than China and announces that General Test registrations completed on or after 1 August 2026 will reflect USD 249. Because this guide is being published immediately before that change, do not copy the older figure into a later payment plan without checking the live page.
Open or create the student’s own ETS account and complete the registration path until the checkout summary before arranging payment. Confirm the test type, location or at-home choice, appointment date, name and identification details. Use the official amount shown there. A third party’s screenshot, cached search result or old invoice can omit a current fee, tax rule or service selection.
Convert the amount to Nepalese rupees only as a planning estimate. The final local cost can depend on the card issuer’s exchange rate, international-transaction charge and the timing of settlement. Ask the bank about online international payment eligibility, spending limits, currency conversion and any issuer charge. Do not claim that an exchange-rate estimate is the official ETS fee.
Avoid change fees by choosing the appointment carefully. ETS publishes separate charges for rescheduling and changing a test centre, and optional scoring services such as additional score reports can add cost. Read the current policies before confirming. The free score-report options available through the testing process and later paid services should not be confused with university application fees.
Keep preparation spending separate. A Kathmandu GRE course may include guided teaching, diagnostics, mock review, recordings, app access, books and extended support, but it does not normally pay the official ETS registration. Request a current written course quotation and an official-payment checklist. Never send the ETS password or payment credentials to an unverified person.
