GRE Trial Class and Diagnostic Test in Kathmandu

A trial class should show how the teacher explains and responds; a diagnostic should show what the student needs to learn next.

The trial tests teaching fit while the diagnostic tests preparation needs

These two checks answer different questions, and both are more useful when the student arrives with target programmes, an application timeline and honest study availability.

Request an academic trial rather than a counselling-only meeting. The teacher should work through a representative GRE question, ask the student to explain a step and respond to confusion. In Quant, look for concept and modelling explanations instead of shortcuts alone. In Verbal, check whether the teacher uses sentence or passage evidence. For Writing, ask how an actual response would receive individual feedback.

A useful diagnostic reflects the current GRE General Test. ETS lists one 30-minute Analyze an Issue task, two Verbal sections with 12 and 15 questions timed at 18 and 23 minutes, and two Quant sections with 12 and 15 questions timed at 21 and 26 minutes. Verbal and Quant are section-level adaptive. An old long-format paper test can supply practice questions but should not be presented as a current full diagnostic.

ETS POWERPREP is designed to familiarise test takers with the test, question types, tools, navigation, timing and scoring. A baseline attempt is most useful when taken under quiet, timed and interruption-free conditions. The institute should label official ETS material honestly and add value through analysis, teaching and follow-up rather than claim ownership of free official resources.

Demand a classified report. Quant mistakes may involve arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data analysis, translation, comparison, calculation or pacing. Verbal mistakes may involve vocabulary, sentence logic, Text Completion, Sentence Equivalence, passage structure, inference or evidence. Writing should be reviewed for task response, reasoning, support, organisation and language control. A single total score cannot reveal all of these needs.

Compare the proposed plan with what you observed in the trial. Ask who teaches each measure, how many guided weeks are included, when mocks are reviewed, whether recordings are available to every mode and how app practice and books follow the syllabus. Confirm the support end date and the rule for joining another suitable class when more repetition is required.

MKS Education provides physical, live online and hybrid GRE classes with recordings in every mode, iOS and Android practice, physical books, an eight-week guided course, six-month access and continued support. Students needing repetition may join multiple suitable classes without another class charge, subject to current schedules and seats. The diagnostic guides preparation; it does not promise a score, admission or funding.

Diagnose first

Use an official-format baseline and classify Quant Verbal and Writing errors before choosing weekly priorities.

Match the goal

Connect the test date and preparation schedule to official programme and funding deadlines.

Verify claims

Use ETS and official university pages for changing format, fees, dates and score-use policies.

Evidence table

Turn the comparison into checks you can verify

Use the same questions for every provider and save the written answer. A transparent system is easier to compare than a headline promise.

CheckWhy it mattersWhat to verify
Trial objectiveShows teaching and interaction quality.Real lesson rather than sales talk.
Quant explanationWeakness may be concept or reasoning.Method question response and correction.
Verbal explanationVocabulary alone is incomplete.Sentence logic passage evidence and elimination.
Writing feedbackTemplates do not show individual review.Comments on reasoning organisation and language.
Current formatOld timing distorts the baseline. One Issue task and current section lengths.
Official simulationAuthentic tools and navigation matter.ETS POWERPREP named accurately.
Test conditionsInterruptions reduce diagnostic value.Quiet timed device-ready attempt.
Error reportA total score hides specific causes.Measure question type cause and time.
Weekly planEvidence should change the next lesson.Priority skill assignment and retest.
Class modesAttendance fit protects continuity.Physical online hybrid and switching rule.
ResourcesRevision needs connected materials.Recordings app books and access period.
Outcome boundaryA baseline is not a promise. No guaranteed score admission or funding.
MKS Education: MKS can arrange a diagnostic discussion and show the teaching, recording, app, book and mock-review system before the student selects a suitable batch.
Connected preparation

What makes the MKS GRE learning system different

The live class, revision, independent practice and extended support work together instead of ending on the last teaching day.

Physical online and hybrid

Choose a suitable mode and confirm the current timetable for Kathmandu or remote learning.

Recordings in every mode

Physical, online and hybrid students can revisit difficult concepts and recover missed work.

iOS and Android practice

Use structured GRE practice and review through the MKS digital learning system outside class.

Physical books

Follow organised print material alongside app practice, teacher guidance and official ETS resources.

Eight weeks plus six months

Eight weeks of guided teaching connects to six-month learning access and continued support.

Multiple suitable classes

Students needing repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge, subject to schedule and seats.

Practical next steps

  • Bring target programmes, the earliest deadline and recent practice evidence.
  • Observe a genuine teaching interaction in the trial class.
  • Take an official-format baseline under realistic conditions.
  • Request a written priority plan and complete course inclusions.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Do not treat a counselling pitch as an academic trial.
  • Do not use an old-format paper test as the only diagnostic.
  • Do not accept a total score without classified errors and next actions.
  • Do not enrol because a trial class promises a guaranteed result.
Current test context

Prepare for the GRE General Test students now take

ETS lists one 30-minute Analytical Writing task, two Verbal Reasoning sections and two Quantitative Reasoning sections in the shorter computer-delivered General Test.

Analytical Writing

One 30-minute Analyze an Issue task assesses clear ideas, reasons, examples, organisation and written control.

Verbal Reasoning

Two sections contain 12 and 15 questions with 18 and 23 minutes respectively.

Quantitative Reasoning

Two sections contain 12 and 15 questions with 21 and 26 minutes respectively.

Build your GRE plan from diagnostic evidence

Bring target programmes, the earliest deadline and a recent official-format diagnostic. MKS can organise an eight-week guided plan with flexible modes, recordings, app practice, books, six-month access and continued support.

What should I check in a GRE trial class?

Observe a real explanation, teacher questions, student interaction, correction quality and how the lesson connects to practice and feedback.

Which test can be used as a GRE diagnostic?

A properly administered official ETS POWERPREP practice test can provide useful baseline evidence about format, timing, Quant and Verbal performance.

Is a GRE diagnostic score a guaranteed final score?

No. It is a starting measurement affected by conditions and preparation. It helps identify priorities but cannot guarantee the official result.

Does MKS offer trial and diagnostic guidance?

MKS can discuss a diagnostic and demonstrate its class, recording, app, book and review workflow before a student selects a suitable current batch.

What should happen after the diagnostic?

The teacher should classify errors, set weekly priorities, teach missing methods, assign targeted practice and retest the relevant skill.
