SAT Accommodations Guide for Nepali Students 2026

Begin with the College Board accommodations guidance and the intended SAT date. Students with documented disabilities may be eligible for supports such as extended time, extra or extended breaks, text-to-speech, assistive technology or other approved arrangements. A diagnosis alone does not automatically produce a particular support. Services for Students with Disabilities reviews whether the requested accommodation is needed for the test, so the request should describe the functional limitation and include the evidence required for that request.

Use the school route when it is available. College Board identifies a school counselor or SSD coordinator as the usual person who submits requests through SSD Online. A family may submit directly if the student is homeschooled, does not want the school involved or the school cannot access SSD Online. Because approval can take up to seven weeks, begin well before the registration deadline and use the official accommodations deadline for the intended administration. Do not wait for a Bluebook mock problem to start the application.

After approval, register through the student’s College Board account and confirm that the approved accommodation will be used for the SAT. A student previously approved for a College Board PSAT-related assessment or AP Exam generally does not need to apply again, but the approval and delivery should still be checked. If a change is necessary, contact SSD as early as possible and no later than five days before test day. College Board states that accommodations cannot be added or waived on test day.

Understand how the support is delivered digitally. Some classroom accommodations operate differently in Bluebook: zoom can replace large print, and a screen reader or text-to-speech option can replace some human-reader or braille arrangements. Approved extra time and breaks are applied through the digital test. Practise in Bluebook using the approved setting and the actual assistive technology. Confirm device compatibility, keyboard or headphone rules and whether the student will test at a standard centre or through a school-based arrangement.

For fall 2026, College Board states that students approved for embedded text-to-speech will take SAT Weekend at test centres unless they have another approved school-based accommodation. Students approved for text-to-speech or screen-reader accommodations must bring their own wired, non-Bluetooth headphones. Rules can change, so use the live page for the exact administration. When the admission ticket appears, confirm that all approved accommodations are listed and contact SSD immediately if anything is missing.
