International tuition deposits are governed by the university’s written offer, payment policy and refund terms. Amounts, deadlines, non-refundable portions and visa-refusal exceptions vary widely.

Why universities request deposits

A deposit may secure a place, form part of tuition and be required before CAS processing. Some institutions separate an initial place deposit from a larger pre-CAS tuition payment. The offer and finance portal should explain the structure.

Ask when payments will appear on the CAS and whether later payments require an update. Verify the tuition paid figure on the draft or issued CAS before using it in the visa application.

Select the correct reason and attach required evidence.
Submit before the stated deadline.
Keep the case number and confirmation.
Expect payment to return to the original payer or source where policy and financial controls require it.
