UK Pre-CAS Interview Guide for Nepali Students 2026

Some UK universities use a pre-CAS interview or questionnaire to assess whether an applicant is ready and credible before issuing a CAS. The format and requirement belong to the university, not to a single national template.

Why universities conduct pre-CAS interviews

Being invited does not automatically mean the application has a problem.

Who may be interviewed?

Policies vary. One university may interview selected applicants, while another may require interviews for applicants from particular regions or for a given intake. Never assume a friend’s experience applies to your university. Check the offer-holder portal and messages sent to you.

Use your real research and your own words. Give specific module, assessment and facility examples from the official course page. Be able to explain financial figures and evidence. If you do not understand a question, ask for clarification rather than guessing. Do not read a memorised script or use another person, an AI tool or hidden prompts during a recorded interview.

Pre-CAS versus UKVI credibility interview

The university conducts the pre-CAS stage before it decides whether to issue a CAS. UKVI may separately invite a visa applicant to a credibility interview. Preparation overlaps, but the decision-maker, timing and instructions are different.

Read the written university outcome and any review, retry or deferral information. Do not invent a second account or submit altered evidence. Ask the institution what options remain and consider timing before making further payments.
