GRE Classes for Weak Math and Vocabulary Students

Weak math or vocabulary is a starting diagnosis—not a permanent label and never a reason for an institute to guarantee a dramatic score.

Foundation gaps improve through diagnosis teaching practice and review

A student cannot fix “weak math” or “weak English” as one problem. The class must identify the exact skill, error cause and next practice step.

Begin Quant with the official content domains. ETS describes arithmetic, algebra, geometry and data analysis as the elementary concepts used in Quantitative Reasoning, together with understanding information, modelling and problem solving. A weak student may know a formula but misread the relationship, or understand the question but make a calculation error. The diagnostic should separate these causes.

Use the official GRE Math Review as a foundation reference. ETS explains that it covers the basic concepts important for GRE Quantitative Reasoning, with chapters in arithmetic, algebra, geometry and data analysis. A teacher should sequence the necessary topics, demonstrate examples, require the student to explain the method and use short cumulative reviews so that earlier concepts are not forgotten.

Treat vocabulary as part of reasoning rather than a giant isolated list. GRE Verbal measures understanding of words, sentences and texts, relationships among concepts, analysis, inference and synthesis. Build a manageable spaced-review set, learn meaning and usage in context, notice contrast and support signals, and apply the words to Text Completion, Sentence Equivalence and Reading Comprehension.

Keep accuracy practice separate from timed practice at first. A student who is still learning fractions or sentence structure cannot diagnose pacing from a rushed mixed section. After a method becomes stable, add small timed sets, then current-length sections and official POWERPREP simulation. Review every wrong answer and every lucky guess, because both reveal a learning need.

Use recordings and repeat classes actively. Rewatch only the relevant explanation, pause to solve the example, write the rule in an error log and attempt a fresh question without looking. If the same error continues, take it to a teacher or join another suitable foundation session. More exposure helps only when the student retrieves, explains and applies the skill.

MKS Education offers physical, online and hybrid GRE classes with recordings in every mode, iOS and Android practice, physical books and teacher guidance. The eight-week guided course connects to six-month access and continued support. Students who need additional repetition may join multiple suitable classes without another class charge, subject to schedule and seats. MKS does not promise that every weak student will reach 320 or any other score.

Diagnose first

Use an official-format baseline and classify Quant Verbal and Writing errors before choosing weekly priorities.

Match the goal

Connect the test date and preparation schedule to official programme and funding deadlines.

Verify claims

Use ETS and official university pages for changing format, fees, dates and score-use policies.

Evidence table

Turn the comparison into checks you can verify

Use the same questions for every provider and save the written answer. A transparent system is easier to compare than a headline promise.

CheckWhy it mattersWhat to verify
ArithmeticFractions ratios percentages and number properties.Short lessons worked examples and cumulative review.
AlgebraEquations inequalities functions and translation.Concept check modelling and mixed practice.
GeometryFigures properties and measurement.Diagram reading rules and careful application.
Data analysisTables graphs statistics and probability.Interpretation before calculation.
Quant reasoningKnowing formulas is not enough.Comparison modelling estimation and checking.
Vocabulary recallWords fade without spaced retrieval.Small sets examples review intervals and testing.
Sentence logicContext determines the required meaning.Contrast support grammar and prediction.
Passage reasoningReading needs structure and evidence.Main idea inference purpose and elimination.
Diagnostic recordBroad labels hide specific causes.Skill question type timing and error category.
Teacher feedbackRepeated mistakes need a changed method.Explanation student restatement and retest.
Recordings and repeat classFoundation work may need another cycle.Active review and suitable class availability.
Progress evidenceOne mock cannot define potential.Trend across focused sets sections and official practice.
MKS Education: MKS can use a diagnostic to place math and vocabulary gaps into a practical foundation sequence, then connect live teaching to recordings, app practice, books and suitable repeat classes.
Connected preparation

What makes the MKS GRE learning system different

The live class, revision, independent practice and extended support work together instead of ending on the last teaching day.

Physical online and hybrid

Choose a suitable mode and confirm the current timetable for Kathmandu or remote learning.

Recordings in every mode

Physical, online and hybrid students can revisit difficult concepts and recover missed work.

iOS and Android practice

Use structured GRE practice and review through the MKS digital learning system outside class.

Physical books

Follow organised print material alongside app practice, teacher guidance and official ETS resources.

Eight weeks plus six months

Eight weeks of guided teaching connects to six-month learning access and continued support.

Multiple suitable classes

Students needing repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge, subject to schedule and seats.

Practical next steps

  • Name the exact weak domains and question types from a diagnostic.
  • Build foundation accuracy before pushing full-section speed.
  • Use spaced vocabulary recall together with sentence and passage reasoning.
  • Track corrected errors and retest the same skill with fresh questions.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Do not accept “weak student” as a complete diagnosis.
  • Do not memorise formulas or word lists without application.
  • Do not compare progress from one difficult mock alone.
  • Do not believe a course that guarantees 320 for every beginner.
Current test context

Prepare for the GRE General Test students now take

ETS lists one 30-minute Analytical Writing task, two Verbal Reasoning sections and two Quantitative Reasoning sections in the shorter computer-delivered General Test.

Analytical Writing

One 30-minute Analyze an Issue task assesses clear ideas, reasons, examples, organisation and written control.

Verbal Reasoning

Two sections contain 12 and 15 questions with 18 and 23 minutes respectively.

Quantitative Reasoning

Two sections contain 12 and 15 questions with 21 and 26 minutes respectively.

Build your GRE plan from diagnostic evidence

Bring target programmes, the earliest deadline and a recent official-format diagnostic. MKS can organise an eight-week guided plan with flexible modes, recordings, app practice, books, six-month access and continued support.

Can a weak math student prepare for the GRE?

Yes. Start by identifying the exact arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data-analysis or reasoning gaps, then build accurate methods before adding timed mixed practice.

Is memorising vocabulary enough for GRE Verbal?

No. Vocabulary supports Verbal, but students also need sentence logic, relationships among words, passage structure, inference, evidence and careful elimination.

What official resource helps with GRE math foundations?

ETS provides a GRE Math Review covering arithmetic, algebra, geometry and data analysis, which can be connected to guided lessons and practice.

Can weak students repeat GRE classes at MKS?

Students needing more repetition may join multiple suitable classes without another class charge, subject to the current schedule and available seats.

Can MKS guarantee a 320 score for a weak student?

No. MKS can provide foundation teaching, practice, feedback and support, but no provider can guarantee an official score or application outcome.
