IELTS for Australia Study from Nepal 2026
Compare the provider’s admission conditions with current Subclass 500 English evidence rules before choosing a test date or target.
Build one plan from the course offer and Subclass 500 evidence
A useful Australia IELTS plan begins with two current records: the education provider’s exact course condition and Home Affairs requirements for the intended visa application.
First verify the education provider. Check the live course page, international entry requirements and written offer for the accepted test, overall score, minimum component scores, result validity and any pathway option. Nursing, teaching, health and regulated pathways can have course or later registration standards that differ from a general university minimum. Record the requirement for the exact campus, intake and programme because a broad university-level summary may not reflect the selected course.
Next review the current Home Affairs Student visa Subclass 500 page. For tests taken on or after 7 August 2025, its published table includes IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training with a standard minimum test score of 6.0. It also shows lower scores for a principal course accompanied by specified lengths of ELICOS, a Foundation programme or an eligible pathway. These are visa evidence settings; they do not reduce a provider’s independent admission condition.
Test format matters. Home Affairs states that it does not accept evidence from a test delivered entirely online or remotely proctored, and gives IELTS Online as an example. The Department also says an approved test is generally completed within the relevant two-year evidence period for the Student visa pathway, though the timing point can depend on the evidence level and whether the Department requests evidence. Use the current page at the time of application rather than relying on a result-age rule copied from an old checklist.
Create a single comparison sheet. Put the provider’s required test and component scores beside the current visa test and evidence rules. Add the Confirmation of Enrolment pathway, ELICOS or foundation packaging only if it is genuinely part of the offer. Confirm whether the chosen IELTS result will meet both purposes and whether another professional requirement will later apply. The official Study Australia update on approved tests explains the test-list changes from 7 August 2025 and directs applicants back to Home Affairs for the current detail.
Prepare to the higher confirmed requirement. Diagnose all four skills, then use official task practice, weekly error review and timed computer or paper practice that matches the booked format. Save the offer, test booking and official visa page used for the decision. Recheck them before lodging because test lists, evidence exemptions, validity rules and course requirements can change. A score useful for one purpose is not automatically sufficient for every course, visa or professional-registration stage.
Start from evidence
Match the class plan to your current score profile, application requirement and realistic test date.
Review the feedback
Useful feedback explains the error, links it to an IELTS criterion and gives a concrete next practice step.
Prepare for delivery
Build language skill and the computer workflow together before a timed official test.
Use this checklist before paying or booking
Ask the centre for current written information. The table turns general marketing language into verifiable questions.
| Check | Why it matters | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Course admission | Provider course page and offer | Accepted test overall and component scores |
| Visa evidence | Current Home Affairs Subclass 500 page | Approved test threshold and evidence route |
| Standard IELTS table | Tests taken on or after 7 August 2025 | IELTS 6.0 shown for standard Student visa evidence |
| Packaged pathway | Confirmed ELICOS foundation or eligible pathway | Use only the threshold matching the actual package |
| At-home test | Home Affairs online-test restriction | Completely remote-proctored tests are not accepted |
| Result timing | Current visa evidence instruction | Check the applicable two-year timing rule |
| Component floors | Provider or professional body | A strong overall does not cancel a low skill score |
| Course and campus | Exact CRICOS-linked offer details | Match programme intake and location |
| Professional pathway | Relevant regulator and course provider | May require a higher or later English standard |
| Final decision | Higher confirmed course or visa demand | Book the test and prepare from one verified plan |
What makes the MKS IELTS learning system different
Classroom teaching, revision, independent practice and longer support work as one system instead of separate add-ons.
Three learning modes
Choose physical, online or hybrid learning and confirm the current timetable that fits your routine.
Recordings for every mode
Physical, online and hybrid students can revisit lessons and catch up on missed work.
iOS and Android access
Continue structured IELTS practice beyond the live class through the MKS digital system.
Physical books
Use organised print materials together with digital practice instead of scattered files.
Six-month access
The eight-week guided course connects to six-month learning access and continued support.
Multiple suitable classes
Students needing more repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge.
Keep every section inside the same improvement loop
Attempt, diagnose, correct, repeat and retest. Your overall goal should never hide a required section minimum.
A balanced weekly routine
- Review Listening distractors, spelling and paraphrase recognition rather than only counting correct answers.
- Track Reading accuracy by question type and add timed sections only after the method is stable.
- Use the official Writing criteria to revise task response, organisation, vocabulary and grammar.
- Record Speaking answers and review fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation without memorising scripts.
- Keep an error log and use the next mock to test whether the correction actually worked.
Before enrolment
- Confirm Academic or General Training and the required overall and section bands.
- Ask for the current timetable, fee, inclusions, teacher-feedback process and access period in writing.
- Test the commute, device, internet and study hours needed for the chosen class mode.
- Ask how the centre handles missed classes, weak skills and a test date later than the live course.
Before the official test
- Check the authorised test partner for current dates, locations, fees and delivery options.
- Use the same computer workflow and timing that you will face on test day.
- Book only after your reviewed practice evidence supports the planned date.
- Keep the application deadline and result-delivery time inside the booking decision.

Verify live IELTS information
What IELTS score is required for an Australia Student visa in 2026?
The current Home Affairs table for tests taken on or after 7 August 2025 shows IELTS 6.0 for the standard Student visa evidence setting, with specified alternatives for eligible packaged study. Always verify the live page.

Home Affairs states that completely online or remote-proctored tests are not accepted for Australian visa evidence and lists IELTS Online as an example.
Can I use a lower IELTS score with ELICOS or a pathway?
Only when the actual principal-course package meets the specific Home Affairs conditions and the education provider has issued the appropriate offer and enrolment documents.
How does MKS prepare IELTS students planning Australia study?
MKS converts verified provider and visa requirements into a diagnostic-led plan with guided classes, recordings, books, app practice and mock review without guaranteeing a score.
