IELTS for Canada Study from Nepal 2026
Verify the institution and programme first because Canada’s regular study permit eligibility page does not publish one universal IELTS admission score.
Separate Canadian admission English from permit eligibility
A Nepali student should select IELTS from the current school and programme requirements, then build the study permit file from current IRCC instructions.
Begin with the school’s official international admissions page for the exact programme, campus and intake. Record whether IELTS Academic is accepted, the overall score, each component minimum, result validity, waiver rules and deadline. Colleges and universities can set different standards across certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, graduate programmes and regulated fields. An English requirement from one programme cannot safely be transferred to another institution or intake.
Confirm that the school is a designated learning institution before paying or planning the permit. The official Canadian DLI list says a letter of acceptance from a DLI is required for a study permit and explains that not every programme at a DLI is necessarily eligible for a post-graduation work permit. Check the institution, campus, DLI number and programme details separately rather than treating “DLI” as a promise about every later outcome.
Use the regular study permit rules, not an old fast-stream checklist. IRCC announced that the Student Direct Stream ended on 8 November 2024 and applications submitted after the closure are processed through the regular study permit stream. The official SDS closure notice means old pages showing an SDS IELTS score should not be presented as a current 2026 universal requirement.
The current IRCC study permit eligibility page focuses on enrolment at a DLI, sufficient money for tuition, living costs and return transportation, compliance with law, health requirements where applicable and convincing an officer that the applicant will leave when the permit expires. It does not publish one IELTS band for every applicant. English test evidence may still be central to the school admission decision and can support a coherent study plan, but do not label an institution’s score as an IRCC-wide rule.
Build an evidence map before booking. Save the programme page, DLI record, admission test conditions and current IRCC document instructions. Confirm whether a provincial or territorial attestation letter is required for the case and whether any current exemption applies. Prepare for the school’s exact IELTS requirement through diagnostic work, official materials, timed practice and error review. Recheck the institution and IRCC pages before submission because attestation, programme and permit rules can change while an application is being prepared.
Start from evidence
Match the class plan to your current score profile, application requirement and realistic test date.
Review the feedback
Useful feedback explains the error, links it to an IELTS criterion and gives a concrete next practice step.
Prepare for delivery
Build language skill and the computer workflow together before a timed official test.
Use this checklist before paying or booking
Ask the centre for current written information. The table turns general marketing language into verifiable questions.
| Check | Why it matters | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Programme English | Official institution programme page | Accepted test overall and component scores |
| School status | Current IRCC DLI list | Institution campus and DLI number |
| Programme outcome | DLI and PGWP eligibility detail | Do not assume every DLI programme is eligible |
| Letter of acceptance | Issued by the confirmed DLI | Match name programme campus and dates |
| Study permit stream | Regular IRCC process | SDS closed on 8 November 2024 |
| Permit eligibility | Current IRCC eligibility page | DLI funds admissibility and temporary intent |
| Attestation letter | Current IRCC and province instructions | Check PAL or TAL requirement and exemptions |
| IELTS purpose | Institution admission condition | Do not present it as one national permit band |
| Result timing | School and application schedule | Meet the admission deadline before permit filing |
| Final audit | Saved school DLI and IRCC sources | All programme and permit details are current |
What makes the MKS IELTS learning system different
Classroom teaching, revision, independent practice and longer support work as one system instead of separate add-ons.
Three learning modes
Choose physical, online or hybrid learning and confirm the current timetable that fits your routine.
Recordings for every mode
Physical, online and hybrid students can revisit lessons and catch up on missed work.
iOS and Android access
Continue structured IELTS practice beyond the live class through the MKS digital system.
Physical books
Use organised print materials together with digital practice instead of scattered files.
Six-month access
The eight-week guided course connects to six-month learning access and continued support.
Multiple suitable classes
Students needing more repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge.
Keep every section inside the same improvement loop
Attempt, diagnose, correct, repeat and retest. Your overall goal should never hide a required section minimum.
A balanced weekly routine
- Review Listening distractors, spelling and paraphrase recognition rather than only counting correct answers.
- Track Reading accuracy by question type and add timed sections only after the method is stable.
- Use the official Writing criteria to revise task response, organisation, vocabulary and grammar.
- Record Speaking answers and review fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation without memorising scripts.
- Keep an error log and use the next mock to test whether the correction actually worked.
Before enrolment
- Confirm Academic or General Training and the required overall and section bands.
- Ask for the current timetable, fee, inclusions, teacher-feedback process and access period in writing.
- Test the commute, device, internet and study hours needed for the chosen class mode.
- Ask how the centre handles missed classes, weak skills and a test date later than the live course.
Before the official test
- Check the authorised test partner for current dates, locations, fees and delivery options.
- Use the same computer workflow and timing that you will face on test day.
- Book only after your reviewed practice evidence supports the planned date.
- Keep the application deadline and result-delivery time inside the booking decision.
Build an IELTS plan around your real starting level

Verify live IELTS information
What IELTS score is required for Canada study from Nepal in 2026?
There is no single score for every Canadian school or programme. The institution sets its admission requirement, while the regular study permit eligibility page does not publish one universal IELTS band.
Is the Student Direct Stream available in 2026?
No. IRCC ended the Student Direct Stream on 8 November 2024. New applications use the regular study permit process, so old SDS score tables are not current rules.
Why must I check the DLI list before applying?
A study permit application needs a letter of acceptance from a designated learning institution. The official list also helps verify the campus and programme-related details.
Does studying at a DLI guarantee PGWP eligibility?
No. IRCC states that not all programmes at a DLI are PGWP eligible. Check the current institution and specific programme entry plus all other eligibility rules.
How does MKS prepare IELTS students planning Canada study?
MKS verifies the school target first and then uses diagnostics, guided lessons, recordings, books, app practice and mock review to prepare for the confirmed requirement without promising a score.
