UK Student Visa Refusal Reasons for Nepali Students 2026

A Student visa is decided on the application actually submitted, not on general approval-rate claims. The safest approach is to meet every current rule, make the form consistent with the CAS and submit genuine, verifiable evidence.

Quick answer: A refusal can arise when the decision-maker is not satisfied that an immigration requirement is met. Possible problem areas include an invalid or inconsistent CAS, financial evidence, genuine-student assessment, English evidence, missing ATAS or TB documentation where required, identity or suitability issues, and false or unverifiable information. The refusal letter gives the reason in an individual case.

1. CAS and course inconsistencies

Check the sponsor, course, dates, tuition paid, qualification level and passport details against the CAS statement and application. Report a CAS error to the university before applying. A CAS does not by itself guarantee a visa.

2. Financial evidence problems

Use the current GOV.UK Student visa finance rules. Check required tuition and living funds, acceptable account holder and institution, evidence format, holding period and document date. A large balance alone does not cure an ineligible account, insufficient holding period or unverifiable statement.

3. Genuine-student concerns

Be ready to explain the real course choice, academic progression, university research, funding and career plan. Answers should be consistent with the application. Memorised scripts, unexplained contradictions or a plan built mainly around work can damage credibility.

4. English, ATAS or TB evidence

Submit the English evidence required under the route and recorded by the sponsor. If the course requires ATAS, use the correct certificate. If a TB certificate is required based on current rules and residence history, use a Home Office-approved clinic.

5. Documents and translations

Names, dates and qualifications must match across passport, CAS, bank records, certificates and forms. Where a translation is required, follow current format rules. Never alter a transcript, bank statement, employment letter or test result.

6. Immigration and suitability history

Answer questions about previous applications, refusals, travel and immigration history truthfully. Omitting a fact because it appears unfavourable can create a separate credibility or suitability problem.
