Your booking terms control the request

Check provider product deadline and evidence before submitting a change

A cancellation, transfer and exceptional-circumstances request are different actions. The safest process starts with the booking confirmation and current official policy.

First identify the provider and test product. Standard Academic or General Training IELTS, IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills can use different terms. The current British Council Nepal cancellation and transfer page says its published table applies to standard IELTS tests. IDP candidates should use their IDP account and the current Nepal instructions for the original booking rather than applying a British Council rule.

Timing changes the outcome. British Council Nepal currently states that cancelling 15 or more days before the test gives a 75 percent refund after a 25 percent administration deduction, while cancellation within 14 days normally has no refund. For transfers, it currently lists a free transfer at least 15 days before the test, a 25 percent administration charge from 5–14 days and no transfer under 5 days. These terms can change, so capture the policy and portal response on the day you submit.

Exceptional circumstances follow a separate evidence process. The published British Council Nepal policy includes serious medical conditions, bereavement, domestic crisis, unavoidable legal or military obligation, traumatic experience, civil unrest and extreme weather. A candidate can apply before the test or up to two calendar days after a missed test, and the centre assesses the evidence. Approval is not automatic, and applications are not accepted after results have been released.

Use one clean evidence file. Keep the booking confirmation, payment record, passport details, request date, reason, supporting document and every centre response. Submit through the Test Taker Portal or the provider channel stated in the booking. A social-media message or verbal conversation is not a reliable substitute for a dated official request. If a centre cancels the test, official IELTS policy normally offers a refund or transfer, but follow the centre’s written instructions.

Protect the preparation plan while the request is pending. A transfer can create extra revision time, but it can also move the result beyond a university deadline. Confirm the new test date, speaking-test arrangement, result window and application deadline before accepting. Continue reviewed practice so the schedule change does not become an unplanned study gap, and do not book a second test until the first booking status is clear.

Start from evidence

Match the class plan to your current score profile, application requirement and realistic test date.

Review the feedback

Useful feedback explains the error, links it to an IELTS criterion and gives a concrete next practice step.

Prepare for delivery

Build language skill and the computer workflow together before a timed official test.

Practical comparison

Use this checklist before paying or booking

Ask the centre for current written information. The table turns general marketing language into verifiable questions.

MKS Education: MKS Education can reorganise the preparation calendar after an official booking change, but it cannot approve a transfer or refund. Physical, online and hybrid students receive recordings, books and iOS or Android practice; the eight-week guided course links to six-month access and continued support; and students needing more repetition may join multiple suitable classes without another class charge.
Connected support

What makes the MKS IELTS learning system different

Classroom teaching, revision, independent practice and longer support work as one system instead of separate add-ons.

Three learning modes

Choose physical, online or hybrid learning and confirm the current timetable that fits your routine.

Recordings for every mode

Physical, online and hybrid students can revisit lessons and catch up on missed work.

iOS and Android access

Continue structured IELTS practice beyond the live class through the MKS digital system.

Physical books

Use organised print materials together with digital practice instead of scattered files.

Six-month access

The eight-week guided course connects to six-month learning access and continued support.

Multiple suitable classes

Students needing more repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge.

Four-skill system

Keep every section inside the same improvement loop

Attempt, diagnose, correct, repeat and retest. Your overall goal should never hide a required section minimum.

Each skill needs practice, correction and evidence that the same error is less likely to return.

A balanced weekly routine

  • Review Listening distractors, spelling and paraphrase recognition rather than only counting correct answers.
  • Track Reading accuracy by question type and add timed sections only after the method is stable.
  • Use the official Writing criteria to revise task response, organisation, vocabulary and grammar.
  • Record Speaking answers and review fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation without memorising scripts.
  • Keep an error log and use the next mock to test whether the correction actually worked.

Before enrolment

  • Confirm Academic or General Training and the required overall and section bands.
  • Ask for the current timetable, fee, inclusions, teacher-feedback process and access period in writing.
  • Test the commute, device, internet and study hours needed for the chosen class mode.
  • Ask how the centre handles missed classes, weak skills and a test date later than the live course.

Before the official test

  • Check the authorised test partner for current dates, locations, fees and delivery options.
  • Use the same computer workflow and timing that you will face on test day.
  • Book only after your reviewed practice evidence supports the planned date.
  • Keep the application deadline and result-delivery time inside the booking decision.
