Computer familiarity should remove friction without replacing English preparation

The delivery system does not change the language ability being assessed. It changes how you read, type, navigate and manage time while demonstrating that ability.

Official IELTS states that the move to computer delivery does not change the skills assessed, the test construct or how institutions interpret results. IDP Nepal likewise explains that question types, content, timing and difficulty remain aligned. Choose the correct Academic or General Training product first; computer delivery is not a shortcut around the receiving organisation’s requirement.

Practise the actual actions used during Listening and Reading: moving between questions, highlighting, making notes, checking unanswered items and reading longer passages on screen. Build one repeatable process instead of experimenting on test day. The centre provides the computer and headphones; personal equipment is not needed.

Writing needs both language and typing control. Practise planning briefly, typing accurately, editing without damaging meaning and monitoring time across both tasks. Raw typing speed is less important than producing a complete, coherent response with fewer avoidable errors. Use teacher feedback to review the finished response, not only the word count.

Speaking remains a real interaction with an examiner according to IDP Nepal. Prepare through recorded answers and live practice, but do not memorise scripts. Focus on directly answering, extending naturally, using flexible vocabulary and grammar and remaining understandable under follow-up questions.

Use full computer mocks selectively. A baseline can reveal screen, timing and language problems; the review should label each cause and assign a correction.
