British Council Women in STEM: what to check

The programme aims to expand women’s access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics study and strengthen leadership and innovation in home countries. The central 2026–27 page states that applications are closed and universities are managing assessment. The award package is broader than a tuition discount.

Country eligibility is cycle-specific. Applicants must open the current “Apply for a scholarship” section, select the correct country or region and then use the listed university and course pages. An older Nepal, South Asia or partner-university page is not proof of eligibility for the next round.

Published programme criteria typically examine academic ability, financial need, active interest or experience in the STEM field, the ability to benefit from the selected master’s course, future contribution at home and commitment to support other women and girls. Imperial’s Inspiring Women Executive MBA Scholarship is open to female candidates for the Executive MBA and considers leadership, senior-leadership potential and a track record of supporting women in business.
