The transcript records performance over multiple terms and subjects. Common App asks first-year students to gather the high-school transcript and enter current courses, while some colleges require Courses and Grades or additional school reports. Nepali students should use the grading scale and academic documents requested by the university rather than privately converting every result to a US 4.0 GPA unless the institution instructs that conversion.

Course context matters. Admission readers can consider the level of challenge available at the student’s school, the relationship between intended major and relevant subjects, academic trends and the school profile supplied by a counselor. A lower mark in one demanding course and an unexplained pattern across several terms are not the same evidence. Keep certificates, transcripts, predicted results and final results consistent across the application.

The SAT is a standardised Reading and Writing plus Math result. A submitted score can add another academic reference point, but it remains one component. Check whether the university requires, sometimes requires, never requires or flexibly uses testing for the exact international applicant. Common App tells students to review each college’s testing policy, and institution websites remain the final authority.

If the GPA is below the typical academic profile, a strong SAT may add evidence of current skills but cannot rewrite past grades or guarantee admission. Focus the application list on realistic academic fit and explain genuine context only where the application provides an appropriate section. Do not create excuses or conceal results. Strong recent coursework, accurate school information and well-chosen recommendations can help the reader interpret the record.

If grades are strong but the SAT baseline is weak, decide whether the score is required and whether preparation fits the deadline. At a test-optional institution, it may be better to protect school performance, English proficiency, essays and complete documents than to chase an unsupported target. At a test-required institution, build a diagnostic-led plan early enough for score release and any permitted retake.
