Graphics and table questions become predictable when students translate the display into a precise evidence test

The visual density is not an invitation to calculate everything; it is a test of deciding which information answers the stated task.

Place both formats in the current exam. Data Insights has 20 questions in 45 minutes and includes Data Sufficiency, Multi-Source Reasoning, Table Analysis, Graphics Interpretation and Two-Part Analysis. An on-screen calculator is available in this section, but it does not identify the relevant row, interpret a distorted axis or correct a unit mismatch. Preparation should therefore combine display literacy, numerical reasoning, verbal precision and interface decisions instead of treating every item as a spreadsheet exercise.

For Graphics Interpretation, begin with the frame. Identify the graphic type, title, axes, direction, scale, intervals, legend, marked values, units, population and time period. Check whether an axis begins at zero, whether two axes use different scales and whether the accompanying text defines a term or adds information not shown in the picture. Official guidance specifically warns candidates to notice discrepancies between units in the graphic and units discussed in the text. Estimate only when the answer options allow it; otherwise calculate from clearly defined quantities.

Read the task and every dropdown choice before committing. The available options reveal the precision and relationship the statement requires. Translate terms such as increase, percentage-point change, ratio, median, cumulative total and rate into a testable expression. More than one dropdown option can look plausible, so choose the completion that makes the full statement most accurate or logical. Verify all blanks together because one appealing selection does not compensate for an inconsistent second selection.

For Table Analysis, read the column headers, footnotes, definitions, filters and units before sorting. Determine whether the task needs a maximum, threshold, comparison, conditional subset, percentage, weighted value or pattern across rows. Sorting can reveal a ranking or group, but it can also hide the original relationship; reset or record the selected rows when necessary. Official strategy says to judge each answer statement according to the specified condition, such as yes or no or true or false. Treat every statement as a separate evidence claim.

Build a display-error log. Classify wrong, guessed and slow correct answers as axis or scale, legend, unit conversion, denominator, table filter, sort state, condition, dropdown interpretation, arithmetic, inference or timing. Rework the display without time pressure, state the evidence supporting each response and then repeat with a fresh official-format item. Mixed practice should combine graphics and tables with other DI types, followed by full three-section simulations. Use the calculator only after the relationship and required calculation are defined.

MKS Education teaches Graphics Interpretation and Table Analysis through physical, online and hybrid GMAT classes in Kathmandu. Recordings are available in every mode, with iOS and Android app practice, physical books and teacher feedback. The guided course runs for eight weeks, while six-month access and continued support allow structured revision. Students needing another suitable explanation may join suitable repeat classes without another class charge, subject to current schedules and seats. MKS does not guarantee a GMAT score, admission, scholarship, assistantship or funding.

Diagnose first

Use a current official-format baseline and classify Quant Verbal and Data Insights errors before choosing weekly priorities.

Match the goal

Connect the test date and preparation schedule to official programme and scholarship deadlines.

Verify claims

Use mba.com and official business-school pages for changing format, fees, dates and score-use policies.

Evidence table

Turn the comparison into checks you can verify

Use the same questions for every provider and save the written answer. A transparent system is easier to compare than a headline promise.

CheckWhy it mattersWhat to verify
Current contextKeeps preparation aligned. Two of five Data Insights question types.
Graphic titleDefines the measured relationship.Read scope population and period first.
Axes and scaleCan change visual interpretation.Check origin intervals direction and dual axes.
Legend and labelsMap marks to categories.Verify colours symbols and annotations.
UnitsPrevent invalid comparison.Reconcile currency time rate and percentage.
Accompanying textMay supply missing definitions.Integrate text before answering.
Dropdown optionsClarify the required task.Read every choice for every blank.
Table headersDefine rows and measures.Read footnotes filters and missing values.
SortingCan expose a relationship.Sort only for the requested comparison.
Specified conditionControls each judgment.Test yes no true false or threshold exactly.
CalculatorSupports selected arithmetic.Use only after defining the model.
Review logCreates targeted improvement.Scale unit filter condition choice and timing.
MKS Education: MKS can classify whether a graphics or table error came from display reading, units, sorting, conditions, answer integration or arithmetic and connect it to the right live lesson, recording and app set.

What makes the MKS GMAT learning system different

The live class, revision, independent practice and extended support work together instead of ending on the last teaching day.

Physical online and hybrid

Choose a suitable mode and confirm the current timetable for Kathmandu or remote learning.

Recordings in every mode

Physical, online and hybrid students can revisit difficult concepts and recover missed work.

iOS and Android practice

Use structured GMAT practice and review through the MKS digital learning system outside class.

Physical books

Follow organised print material alongside app practice, teacher guidance and official GMAC resources.

Eight weeks plus six months

Eight weeks of guided teaching connects to six-month learning access and continued support.

Multiple suitable classes

Students needing repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge, subject to schedule and seats.

Practical next steps

  • Read the graphic or table frame before calculating.
  • Translate the exact task into a relationship or condition.
  • Check units labels filters and every response option.
  • Support each selection with visible evidence from the display.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Do not assume a visual trend without checking the scale.
  • Do not compare values with different units or denominators.
  • Do not sort a table without tracking the selected rows.
  • Do not accept a guaranteed Data Insights or Total Score claim.
Current test context

Prepare for the GMAT exam students now take

GMAC lists three 45-minute sections, 64 questions and 2 hours 15 minutes of testing, plus one optional 10-minute break.

Quantitative Reasoning

Twenty-one Problem Solving questions test arithmetic, elementary algebra, logic and analytical problem solving without a calculator.

Verbal Reasoning

Twenty-three Reading Comprehension and Critical Reasoning questions test understanding and argument evaluation.

Data Insights

Twenty questions combine quantitative, verbal and data literacy across five current question families, with an on-screen calculator.

Build your GMAT plan from diagnostic evidence

Bring target programmes, the earliest deadline and a recent official-format diagnostic. MKS can organise an eight-week guided plan with flexible modes, recordings, app practice, books, six-month access and continued support.

What should I check first in GMAT Graphics Interpretation?

Check the title, axes, scale, intervals, legend, labels, marked values, units and accompanying text before calculating.

Why should I read all dropdown options?

The options help clarify the assigned task, and the correct choice must make the completed statement most accurate or logical.

How should I approach GMAT Table Analysis statements?

Read headers and conditions, sort only when useful, and judge every statement independently against the specified condition.

Can I use a calculator for graphics and table questions?

An on-screen calculator is available in Data Insights, but first define the relationship, units and calculation the question requires.

Can this strategy guarantee a GMAT score?

No. Structured methods, practice and feedback cannot guarantee an official Data Insights score, Total Score or admission.
