A safe appointment decision starts with the correct official route and a saved record of every change
Students should not rely on an old fee screenshot, an institute’s memory or a social-media post when the official account shows the current appointment and transaction.
Start by identifying the appointment type and exact scheduled start time. Test-centre and online appointments have different support instructions, while accommodated appointments use the contact details in the approval or decision letter. Log in to the candidate’s own mba.com account, open the active appointment and confirm the date, time zone, delivery mode, test centre or online status and appointment ID before selecting Reschedule or Cancel.
Treat the current Exam Payment page as the fee authority. GMAC states that rescheduling charges and cancellation refunds depend on how far the request is from the appointment and applicable local law. Because the amounts can change, this guide does not reproduce a fixed rupee or dollar figure. Compare the live rescheduling charge with the cancellation refund and the cost of a new registration, then read the final checkout summary before confirming.
Respect the 24-hour boundary. Current exam policy says appointment changes cannot be made or modified within 24 hours of the appointment start. A candidate who does not attend normally forfeits the full exam fee. After a missed appointment, the candidate can schedule again without the standard full retake interval, but a 24-hour waiting period and a new full registration fee apply. Do not assume silence or failure to appear counts as a cancellation.
Use the correct emergency path before cancelling the appointment yourself. GMAT support says a documented serious illness or injury, active military order or death of an immediate family member may qualify for a free reschedule or full refund after case-by-case review. The candidate should contact the appropriate test-centre or online support route with full name, appointment ID, explanation and supporting documents. Submission does not guarantee approval, and self-cancelling first may forfeit a potential exception.
Save evidence after every action. Keep the original booking email, screen showing the active appointment, live fee summary, payment receipt, cancellation or rescheduling confirmation and the updated dashboard. Check that the new date and location appear correctly. If a paid change is missing, official guidance says to allow the account time to update and then contact support with the transaction details instead of buying another appointment immediately.
