Carry the valid Nepal passport containing the Canadian temporary resident visa, the complete port-of-entry letter of introduction, a current letter of acceptance from the designated learning institution and every letter or document the visa office specifically requested. The passport must remain valid for the intended travel, and the visa must be valid on the date of entry. Keep printed copies and secure offline digital backups.

Bring the tuition receipt, deposit and payment history, a recent school account statement, accessible bank evidence, sponsor or education-loan evidence and a practical first-month budget. IRCC requires enough money for the stay and return transportation. The border officer may ask what funds remain after tuition, where the money is held and how accommodation and daily expenses will be paid.

If the applicant deferred at the same DLI after approval, carry the DLI’s written deferral approval, updated LOA and still-valid letter of introduction. If the DLI changed after the permit application was approved, IRCC currently requires a new study-permit application with a new LOA and fees. Do not attempt to explain an unreported school change only after landing.

When an immigration medical examination was required, IRCC says the result is normally valid for 12 months and must still be valid on the day of entry. If it will expire before travel, another examination may be needed even when the port-of-entry letter remains valid. Check the live account messages and official instructions before booking a non-refundable flight.

Review any change since application: criminal charge, refusal by another country, new family facts, long delay, cancelled enrolment, major funding change or travel to a location affected by a current health measure. Answer border questions truthfully and provide supporting documents where relevant. Concealing a material change can create refusal, inadmissibility or misrepresentation consequences.

Carry prescribed medicines in original packaging with a prescription or doctor’s letter and verify Canadian import rules for controlled or restricted products. Arrange valid health coverage for the interval before provincial or school insurance begins. Medical insurance does not replace an immigration medical exam, and an exam does not pay for treatment after arrival.

Know the institution’s legal name, campus, DLI, program title, credential, start and expected end dates, tuition, amount already paid and orientation plan. Be able to explain how the program connects to Nepal education and a realistic future goal. The explanation should match the submitted study plan and not depend on guaranteed employment or permanent residence.

Carry the first destination address, accommodation booking or residence confirmation, school contact, airport-to-housing plan and an emergency contact. If staying temporarily with a relative or friend, record the person’s full name, address, telephone number and relationship. A vague destination can create avoidable concern after a long international journey.

The officer may ask about funds, prior travel, family in Canada, study gaps, program choice or plans after study. Listen carefully, request clarification when needed and never present a rehearsed false answer. A representative or counsellor cannot attend the border interview or guarantee entry. The traveller remains responsible for every statement and document.

The officer normally prints the study permit at the port of entry. Before leaving the inspection area, verify the name, passport details, DLI or location condition, program-related remarks, expiry date and any work wording. The expiry can be limited by passport validity. Politely ask the officer about a clear error rather than assuming the school can change an immigration document.

Do not begin on- or off-campus work before the study program starts. Later work eligibility depends on the printed condition, full-time active study in a qualifying program and all current IRCC rules. A Social Insurance Number is a later identification step and cannot repair missing work authorization. Keep the permit flat and secure and provide the school only the required copy.

After customs, follow declaration rules for currency, food, plant, animal and other controlled goods. Save entry records, reach accommodation safely, report to the DLI, complete registration and insurance steps and update family in Nepal. When a policy changes, compare the new instruction with the student’s application date, credential, institution, campus and personal status before deciding what applies. Do not silently replace an old document or reinterpret a rule from a headline. If the effect is uncertain, pause payment or submission and obtain clarification from the responsible authority or a properly authorised professional.
