Combined CAS rules

Under current Appendix Student, an eligible higher education provider with a track record of compliance can assign one CAS covering a pre-sessional course and a degree-level main course in specified circumstances. The pre-sessional must be no longer than three months and the main course must begin no more than one month after it ends.

The English evidence and offer status for a combined CAS depend on whether the applicant is already assessed at B2 or is using the permitted B1-to-B2 route. The university’s CAS team must decide eligibility. Longer or separate arrangements can require a different CAS or visa sequence.

English evidence matters

A university may accept several tests for academic admission but require a Secure English Language Test for a particular pre-sessional or visa arrangement. Check the exact test name, approved centre, component scores and validity. Do not assume a Duolingo, MOI, standard IELTS or standard PTE result can be used in every scenario.
