First Week in the UK: International Student Checklist

Use your first seven days to secure accommodation evidence, enrol, activate essential services, register for healthcare and understand your academic routine.

Important: Your university's arrival timetable and the rules of England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland take priority over a generic checklist. Do not delay a mandatory identity, immigration or course check because another student completed it differently.
Day one

Arrive, communicate and secure the room

Focus first on being reachable, safely housed and able to prove what happened.

Find provider Use the health service for your UK nation or university guidance to find a nearby GP practice. Catchment, capacity and registration process vary.
Register Complete the practice's current form and provide useful medical information accurately. In England, NHS guidance says ID, proof of address and immigration status are not required to register.
Medicine plan Arrange a review before Nepal supplies run low and explain generic names and doses. Do not have controlled-drug medicine posted from abroad without checking official rules.
Urgent routes Learn pharmacy, urgent advice and emergency services for the nation. Call 999 for emergencies; routine care should use the appropriate local route.

Create a secure first-month payment system

A UK account can help, but you still need careful identity, address and fraud controls.

Coverage at the airport does not prove service inside your room or campus.
