UK Student Visa Interview Questions and Answers 2026
A credibility interview checks whether your study plan is genuine and consistent with your application. It is not a script-recitation contest: the safest answers are personal, specific and supported by your documents.
Quick answer: This guide is written for applicants from Nepal and reflects information checked in July 2026. University and UKVI rules can change, so always confirm the final requirement before paying or applying.
What the interviewer may assess
The interviewer may explore why you chose the UK, the university and the course; how the programme relates to your academic or employment background; how you compared alternatives; how the study is funded; where you plan to live; and what you intend to do after graduation. They may also assess whether you can communicate in English and whether your answers match the CAS and application.
Question: Why did you choose this course?
Good answer framework: identify two or three modules, explain the skills they build, connect them to your previous education or work, and show how they support a realistic career goal in Nepal or internationally. Avoid generic claims such as “the UK has the best education.”
Example structure: “My bachelor’s project introduced me to data analysis. The MSc modules in applied machine learning and data governance address gaps I found at work. After graduation I plan to pursue analyst roles in Nepal’s banking or technology sector.” Use only facts that are true for you.
Question: Why this university and not another?
Explain your comparison criteria: relevant modules, assessment style, facilities, location, tuition, scholarship, professional recognition or graduate support. Name genuine alternatives you researched and give a reasoned comparison. Know the campus location and the exact course title.
Question: Who is paying and how?
State the sponsor, relationship, source of income, available funds, tuition already paid and the evidence submitted. The answer should match your bank and sponsor documents. Do not guess amounts. Be ready to explain a recent large deposit truthfully and document its source.
Question: What are your plans after study?
Describe a credible career direction, target sector, likely roles and how the degree adds value. Do not invent a guaranteed job or salary. A clear professional plan is stronger than a memorised promise. If asked about work rights, show that study is the main purpose of the visa.
Interview-day practice
- Review the application, CAS, financial calculation and accommodation plan.
- Test the internet, camera, microphone and quiet room.
- Listen fully, ask for clarification when necessary and answer the question asked.
- Say honestly when you do not remember a minor detail instead of inventing it.
- Never use a purchased script or false experience.
Practical checklist for students from Nepal
- Match every name, date and amount across your passport, application, CAS and financial evidence.
- Keep clear scans plus the original documents requested by the university or visa centre.
- Do not rely on an estimated requirement when an official course page, CAS or UKVI rule gives an exact figure.
- Plan backwards from the intake date and leave time for corrections.
- Ask MKS Education to review the sequence of your application before the final submission.
Frequently asked questions
Will every applicant be interviewed?
No. An applicant may be asked to attend; if invited, follow the instructions and attend unless there is a valid reason.
Should answers be memorised?
No. Practise the facts and structure, but answer naturally in your own words.
Can one inconsistent answer cause a problem?
A decision considers the application as a whole, but material inconsistencies can damage credibility and should be corrected honestly.
