UK University Intakes 2026 and 2027 for Nepali Students

Compare September, January and May starts, understand official UCAS dates, and build a realistic admission-to-visa timeline from Nepal.

Quick answer:

September is the main UK intake with the widest course choice. January is a useful second option, especially for selected postgraduate and business courses. May intake is smaller and highly course-specific. Nepali students should normally begin six to twelve months before the course starts.

Main intake

September 2026 and September 2027 intake

September or early October is the standard start for most UK degrees. It normally offers the broadest subject choice, more undergraduate options, established orientation schedules and the largest range of accommodation. It can also be the most competitive intake, so early preparation matters.

For September 2026

  • Submit remaining applications only where places are confirmed.
  • Prepare offer conditions, deposit, financial evidence and CAS checks without delay.
  • Ask the university whether late international applications are still practical.
  • Allow enough time for visa and travel arrangements.

For September 2027

  • Research courses and scholarships during 2026.
  • Prepare English testing, transcripts, references and personal statement early.
  • UCAS applications open on 12 May 2026 and completed applications can be submitted from 1 September 2026.
  • Aim before the relevant equal-consideration deadline.
Alternative starts

January 2027 intake in the UK

January can suit students who need extra time for academic documents, an English retest, funding or a more careful shortlist. Availability is narrower than September and varies by university, campus and course. Postgraduate business, computing, engineering and management options are common areas to check, but availability must be verified directly.

May 2027 intake

May or summer starts are offered by a smaller group of universities and programmes. Treat May as a course-specific opportunity rather than a universal intake. Check module sequencing, internship timing, graduation date, accommodation and whether the programme is identical to its September version.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Which UK intake is best for Nepali students?

September normally offers the widest choice, but the best intake is the one with a suitable course and enough preparation time.

Can I apply after the UCAS equal-consideration date?

Many courses may still consider applications if places remain, but equal consideration is not guaranteed. Confirm availability before applying.

Is January intake easier than September?

Not necessarily. It has fewer courses and each university applies its own admission standards.

Are postgraduate deadlines the same as UCAS deadlines?

Usually not. Many postgraduate applications are made directly to universities with course-specific deadlines.
