Nepali nursing graduates considering UK study must separate academic postgraduate education from professional registration. An MSc, public-health degree or specialist course can develop knowledge, but only an NMC-approved pre-registration programme or the correct overseas-registration process leads toward eligibility to practise as a nurse in the UK.

Nursing is regulated in the UK. A registered nurse trained in Nepal may explore the NMC process for internationally trained applicants. A person seeking a new UK entry-to-register qualification needs an NMC-approved programme. The NMC states that people training to become nurses in the UK must complete an approved programme before registration. Its approved-programmes search warns that non-approved “nursing diploma” courses do not lead to registration and that fall-back awards are not direct-entry routes.
