SAT Reading and Writing Diagnostic Plan for Nepali Students
Separate comprehension, vocabulary, rhetoric and Standard English errors so a Nepali student receives the right lesson instead of generic English practice.
A useful diagnostic identifies what reasoning failed and what lesson follows
The same low section score can come from very different combinations of reading, rhetorical, grammar and pacing weaknesses.
Use the official section structure as the map. College Board identifies Information and Ideas, Craft and Structure, Expression of Ideas and Standard English Conventions, and both modules include questions from all four. Passages are short and can come from literature, history and social studies, humanities and science. A student must recognise the task quickly rather than applying one reading technique to every item.
Begin with a realistic Bluebook practice test and open the Reading and Writing results in My Practice. Export or record the section score and domain bars, but do not stop there. Review each question, answer choice and explanation. Tag correct guesses and slow correct answers because they can become misses under a different second module or a less familiar topic.
For Information and Ideas, distinguish central idea, detail, inference and command-of-evidence errors. Ask whether the student found the relevant sentence or graph, separated what is stated from what is implied and selected evidence that directly supports the claim. For quantitative evidence, diagnose graph and table reading rather than treating the item as pure English.
For Craft and Structure, separate words in context, text structure and purpose, and cross-text connections. A vocabulary error may come from choosing a familiar everyday meaning instead of the logical contextual meaning. A purpose error may come from summarising content without identifying what the sentence does. Diagnostic notes should name that reasoning failure.
For Expression of Ideas and Standard English Conventions, identify transitions, rhetorical synthesis, boundaries and form-structure-sense errors. Grammar diagnosis should record the sentence structure and rule, not only the punctuation mark. Rhetorical synthesis requires using notes to meet a stated goal, so content accuracy alone does not make an option effective.
MKS Education can turn this map into physical, online or hybrid lessons with recordings in every mode, iOS and Android practice, physical books, an eight-week guided course, six-month access and continued support. Students needing more repetition can join multiple suitable classes without another class charge, subject to schedule and seats. MKS teaches skills and feedback; it does not promise a section or total score.
Diagnose first
Use a timed Bluebook practice result and a domain-level error log instead of choosing a plan from a guessed score.
Match the goal
Connect the test date, score decision and preparation schedule to the real university and scholarship timeline.
Verify claims
Use College Board and official university pages for changing rules, dates, fees, formats and score-use policies.
Turn the decision into checks you can verify
Save the source URL and the date you checked it. A clear table is more reliable than memory or a verbal promise.
| Check | Why it matters | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Central Ideas and Details | Identify the main point or stated information. | Relevant sentence and scope. |
| Inferences | Choose what follows logically from the text. | Evidence strength and unsupported leap. |
| Command of Evidence | Select text or data supporting a claim. | Textual or quantitative evidence. |
| Words in Context | Determine meaning from local logic. | Context clue and precise choice. |
| Text Structure and Purpose | Explain what a part does in the text. | Function rather than summary. |
| Cross-Text Connections | Relate viewpoints across paired texts. | Agreement disagreement or response. |
| Rhetorical Synthesis | Use notes to achieve a stated goal. | Goal relevance and accurate selection. |
| Transitions | Express the logical relationship. | Contrast cause example continuation or sequence. |
| Boundaries | Join or separate clauses correctly. | Sentence completeness and punctuation. |
| Form Structure and Sense | Apply grammar usage and logical form. | Agreement modifier tense or construction. |
| Process behaviour | Content knowledge can fail in execution. | Time confidence rereading and elimination. |
| Next lesson | Diagnosis must lead to an action. | Rule lesson set review and delayed retest. |
What makes the MKS SAT learning system different
The live class, revision, independent practice and extended support work together instead of ending on the last teaching day.
Physical online and hybrid
Choose a suitable mode and confirm the current timetable; the system supports Kathmandu and outside-Kathmandu learners.
Recordings in every mode
Physical, online and hybrid students can revisit difficult concepts and recover missed work.
iOS and Android practice
Use structured SAT practice and review through the MKS digital learning system outside class.
Physical books
Follow organised print material alongside app practice, teacher guidance and official digital resources.
Eight weeks plus six months
Eight weeks of guided teaching connects to six-month learning access and continued support.
Multiple suitable classes
Students needing more repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge, subject to the current schedule and seats.
Practical next steps
- Take an official diagnostic and review every answer in My Practice.
- Tag each item by domain skill difficulty confidence time and error cause.
- Use Student Question Bank filters to test each suspected weakness.
- Retest mixed questions to confirm recognition without a label.
Mistakes to avoid
- Do not label every mistake as weak vocabulary or weak English.
- Do not memorise punctuation without identifying sentence structure.
- Do not count a correct guess as secure mastery.
- Do not practise one favourite domain while ignoring the complete section.
Prepare for the digital SAT that students actually take
College Board states that the SAT contains a 64-minute Reading and Writing section and a 70-minute Math section. Each has two adaptive modules, with a 10-minute break between the sections.
Reading and Writing
- 54 questions across two 32-minute modules.
- Build information and ideas, craft and structure, expression of ideas and standard English conventions.
- Review why the correct answer is supported and why each close alternative fails.
- Track both accuracy and time by domain before relying on full-test averages.
Math
- 44 questions across two 35-minute modules.
- Build Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, Geometry and Trigonometry.
- Choose deliberately between mental work, algebra and the built-in graphing calculator.
- Review conceptual, translation, calculator and careless-error patterns separately.
Build your SAT plan from real diagnostic evidence
Bring your target universities, earliest deadline, preferred test date and a recent Bluebook practice result. MKS Education can help organise an eight-week guided plan with flexible learning modes, recordings, app practice, books, six-month access and continued support.

What are the four SAT Reading and Writing domains?
They are Information and Ideas, Craft and Structure, Expression of Ideas and Standard English Conventions.
Is SAT Reading and Writing only a grammar test?
No. It also measures comprehension evidence inference vocabulary rhetorical purpose synthesis and transitions.
How do I diagnose a correct guess?
Mark confidence and reasoning during review. If the student cannot explain why the correct choice works and the others fail, practise the skill again.
Should a Nepali student focus only on vocabulary?
No. Vocabulary in context is one skill. The diagnostic may show more important gaps in evidence rhetoric grammar or pacing.
Can MKS create a Reading and Writing study plan?
Yes. MKS can use official diagnostic evidence to prioritise lessons practice and feedback without guaranteeing a score.
Plan your application with MKS Education
MKS Education is a study abroad consultancy opposite Shankerdev Campus in Putalisadak, Kathmandu. We help Nepali students review profiles, shortlist universities and courses, prepare applications, organise documents, research scholarships, and plan CAS and visa-file stages using current official sources. Universities and immigration authorities make all admission and visa decisions.
