SAT Math Diagnostic Plan for Nepali Students 2026
Map every missed or uncertain Math item to its official domain, specific skill, representation and process error before prescribing practice.
A section score is not a lesson plan until the errors are classified
Two students with the same Math score can need completely different instruction, calculator habits and pacing work.
Start with the official structure. College Board states that SAT Math covers Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, and Geometry and Trigonometry across two modules. Questions include multiple-choice and student-produced responses, and contextual problems require translating a real-world or scientific situation into mathematics. The diagnostic should reflect this full range rather than one favourite topic set.
Take a realistic Bluebook baseline and open each Math question in My Practice. Record correct guesses and slow correct answers as review items. For every item, note whether the challenge was the mathematical concept, choice of representation, equation setup, manipulation, interpretation, calculator use or final answer entry. A wrong result from a correct setup needs different correction from a student who could not form the model.
For Algebra, inspect linear equations, functions, systems and inequalities. For Advanced Math, inspect equivalent expressions, nonlinear equations and nonlinear functions. For Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, inspect ratios, percentages, units, distributions, scatterplots, probability and statistical claims. For Geometry and Trigonometry, inspect area, volume, angles, triangles, trigonometry and circles.
Diagnose representation. The same relationship can appear as an equation, graph, table or verbal model. A student may solve a symbolic linear equation but fail to interpret slope in context or connect a graph to the matching equation. Tag the representation and require translation among forms. This often exposes a deeper gap than labelling the error merely algebra.
Diagnose tool choice. The built-in Desmos calculator can support graphing, solving and checking, but it does not decide what the variables mean or whether an answer fits the context. Record whether manual reasoning, substitution, graphing or table use was most efficient. Practise both calculator-supported and conceptual methods so the student can choose rather than depend on one procedure.
MKS Education can convert the diagnostic into physical, online or hybrid instruction with recordings in every mode, iOS and Android practice, physical books, an eight-week guided course, six-month access and continued support. Students needing repetition may join multiple suitable classes without another class charge, subject to schedules and seats. MKS can diagnose and teach Math but cannot guarantee a score.
Diagnose first
Use a timed Bluebook practice result and a domain-level error log instead of choosing a plan from a guessed score.
Match the goal
Connect the test date, score decision and preparation schedule to the real university and scholarship timeline.
Verify claims
Use College Board and official university pages for changing rules, dates, fees, formats and score-use policies.
Turn the decision into checks you can verify
Save the source URL and the date you checked it. A clear table is more reliable than memory or a verbal promise.
| Check | Why it matters | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Algebra | Linear equations functions systems and inequalities. | Concept setup manipulation or representation. |
| Advanced Math | Equivalent expressions and nonlinear equations or functions. | Structure factoring solving and graph interpretation. |
| Problem-Solving and Data Analysis | Rates percentages data probability and inference. | Units model choice and claim interpretation. |
| Geometry and Trigonometry | Area volume angles triangles trigonometry and circles. | Diagram theorem formula or scale. |
| Representation | The same relationship may use words tables graphs or symbols. | Translation and interpretation. |
| Context setup | A correct equation begins with defined quantities. | Variables units and constraints. |
| Manipulation | Algebra steps can introduce errors. | Signs distribution fractions and exponents. |
| Calculator choice | Tools should improve efficiency or verification. | Desmos graph table solve or manual method. |
| Pacing | A correct method can still be too slow. | Time checkpoints and flagging. |
| Confidence | Correct guesses are unstable. | Explain method and alternative check. |
| Answer format | Student-produced responses need valid entry. | Value form sign and requested quantity. |
| Next lesson | Diagnosis must produce an action. | Concept set mixed set delayed retest. |
What makes the MKS SAT learning system different
The live class, revision, independent practice and extended support work together instead of ending on the last teaching day.
Physical online and hybrid
Choose a suitable mode and confirm the current timetable; the system supports Kathmandu and outside-Kathmandu learners.
Recordings in every mode
Physical, online and hybrid students can revisit difficult concepts and recover missed work.
iOS and Android practice
Use structured SAT practice and review through the MKS digital learning system outside class.
Physical books
Follow organised print material alongside app practice, teacher guidance and official digital resources.
Eight weeks plus six months
Eight weeks of guided teaching connects to six-month learning access and continued support.
Multiple suitable classes
Students needing more repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge, subject to the current schedule and seats.
Practical next steps
- Take an official baseline and review every Math item in My Practice.
- Tag domain skill difficulty representation tool choice and error cause.
- Confirm weaknesses with new filtered Student Question Bank questions.
- Build concept practice mixed timed sets and a delayed retest.
Mistakes to avoid
- Do not label every error careless without finding the cause.
- Do not use Desmos without defining the mathematical model.
- Do not practise only Algebra while ignoring the other domains.
- Do not count a memorised solution as transferable mastery.
Prepare for the digital SAT that students actually take
College Board states that the SAT contains a 64-minute Reading and Writing section and a 70-minute Math section. Each has two adaptive modules, with a 10-minute break between the sections.
Reading and Writing
- 54 questions across two 32-minute modules.
- Build information and ideas, craft and structure, expression of ideas and standard English conventions.
- Review why the correct answer is supported and why each close alternative fails.
- Track both accuracy and time by domain before relying on full-test averages.
Math
- 44 questions across two 35-minute modules.
- Build Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, Geometry and Trigonometry.
- Choose deliberately between mental work, algebra and the built-in graphing calculator.
- Review conceptual, translation, calculator and careless-error patterns separately.
Build your SAT plan from real diagnostic evidence
Bring your target universities, earliest deadline, preferred test date and a recent Bluebook practice result. MKS Education can help organise an eight-week guided plan with flexible learning modes, recordings, app practice, books, six-month access and continued support.

What are the four SAT Math domains?
They are Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, and Geometry and Trigonometry.
Should I diagnose only wrong answers?
No. Include correct guesses and slow correct answers because they may reveal unstable methods or pacing risk.
Can I use a calculator for all SAT Math practice?
A calculator is available throughout the digital SAT Math section, but students still need model selection conceptual reasoning and correct interpretation.
How do I confirm a weak domain?
Use several new official questions filtered by domain skill and difficulty instead of relying on one missed item.
Can MKS create a personalised Math plan?
Yes. MKS can use diagnostic evidence to prioritise lessons and practice without guaranteeing a score.
Plan your application with MKS Education
MKS Education is a study abroad consultancy opposite Shankerdev Campus in Putalisadak, Kathmandu. We help Nepali students review profiles, shortlist universities and courses, prepare applications, organise documents, research scholarships, and plan CAS and visa-file stages using current official sources. Universities and immigration authorities make all admission and visa decisions.
