SAT Geometry and Trigonometry Strategy for Nepali Students
Translate the figure or description into known relationships, choose the smallest sufficient theorem or formula and verify scale and units.
Geometry becomes manageable when the diagram is converted into relationships
The test rewards selecting the relevant theorem and preserving scale, angle and unit meaning through the calculation.
Use the official domain list. College Board identifies area and volume, lines angles and triangles, right triangles and trigonometry, and circles. A problem may be purely mathematical or embedded in a real-world context, and it can combine skills. The first diagnostic label should name the underlying relationship rather than simply geometry.
Annotate what is given and what is implied. Mark right angles, parallel lines, equal lengths, radii, tangents, diameters and similar figures only when the text or standard notation supports them. State the theorem connecting the information to the unknown. A diagram that looks symmetric or to scale is not evidence unless the problem establishes that property.
For scale and measurement, separate length, area and volume factors. If lengths scale by k, areas scale by k squared and volumes by k cubed. Convert units before combining quantities and report the unit requested. For composite figures, break the shape into standard parts or subtract a missing region with consistent dimensions.
For lines and triangles, use angle sums, vertical angles, parallel-line relationships, congruence and similarity. In right triangles, choose the Pythagorean theorem, special-triangle ratios or sine, cosine and tangent from the known and requested sides. Draw the reference angle and label opposite, adjacent and hypotenuse to prevent ratio reversal.
For circles, connect radius, diameter, circumference, area, arcs, sectors, chords, tangents and central or inscribed angles as required. Coordinate-circle questions can involve distance, completing the square or recognising a centre and radius from an equation. Keep degrees and radians distinct and verify whether the answer asks for a length, angle or area.
MKS Education teaches Geometry and Trigonometry in physical, online and hybrid classes with recordings in every mode, iOS and Android practice, physical books, an eight-week guided course, six-month access and continued support. Students needing repetition may join multiple suitable classes without another class charge, subject to schedules and seats. MKS can teach and review methods but cannot guarantee a score.
Diagnose first
Use a timed Bluebook practice result and a domain-level error log instead of choosing a plan from a guessed score.
Match the goal
Connect the test date, score decision and preparation schedule to the real university and scholarship timeline.
Verify claims
Use College Board and official university pages for changing rules, dates, fees, formats and score-use policies.
Turn the decision into checks you can verify
Save the source URL and the date you checked it. A clear table is more reliable than memory or a verbal promise.
| Check | Why it matters | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Area and volume | Measures two- and three-dimensional quantities. | Formula dimensions and units. |
| Scale factor | Connects similar figures. | Length k area k squared volume k cubed. |
| Angle relationships | Uses vertical supplementary and parallel-line rules. | Mark the exact theorem. |
| Triangle sum | Interior angles total 180 degrees. | Solve missing angles. |
| Similarity | Preserves angles and side ratios. | Match corresponding sides. |
| Congruence | Preserves complete size and shape. | Use stated conditions. |
| Pythagorean theorem | Relates sides of a right triangle. | Hypotenuse identification. |
| Special right triangles | Uses fixed side ratios. | 45-45-90 or 30-60-90. |
| Trigonometric ratios | Relates angle and side ratios. | Opposite adjacent hypotenuse. |
| Circle measurements | Uses radius diameter arc sector and area. | Degree or radian context. |
| Coordinate geometry | Connects figures to algebra. | Distance slope and circle equation. |
| Final check | Validates the geometric result. | Size sign unit and requested quantity. |
What makes the MKS SAT learning system different
The live class, revision, independent practice and extended support work together instead of ending on the last teaching day.
Physical online and hybrid
Choose a suitable mode and confirm the current timetable; the system supports Kathmandu and outside-Kathmandu learners.
Recordings in every mode
Physical, online and hybrid students can revisit difficult concepts and recover missed work.
iOS and Android practice
Use structured SAT practice and review through the MKS digital learning system outside class.
Physical books
Follow organised print material alongside app practice, teacher guidance and official digital resources.
Eight weeks plus six months
Eight weeks of guided teaching connects to six-month learning access and continued support.
Multiple suitable classes
Students needing more repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge, subject to the current schedule and seats.
Practical next steps
- Annotate only properties supported by text or standard notation.
- Name the relationship or theorem before substituting numbers.
- Track scale factors and units through every step.
- Check whether the final value is a length angle area volume or ratio.
Mistakes to avoid
- Do not assume a diagram is drawn to scale.
- Do not apply a right-triangle rule without a right angle.
- Do not use the same scale factor for length area and volume.
- Do not mix degrees radians or incompatible measurement units.
Prepare for the digital SAT that students actually take
College Board states that the SAT contains a 64-minute Reading and Writing section and a 70-minute Math section. Each has two adaptive modules, with a 10-minute break between the sections.
Reading and Writing
- 54 questions across two 32-minute modules.
- Build information and ideas, craft and structure, expression of ideas and standard English conventions.
- Review why the correct answer is supported and why each close alternative fails.
- Track both accuracy and time by domain before relying on full-test averages.
Math
- 44 questions across two 35-minute modules.
- Build Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, Geometry and Trigonometry.
- Choose deliberately between mental work, algebra and the built-in graphing calculator.
- Review conceptual, translation, calculator and careless-error patterns separately.
Build your SAT plan from real diagnostic evidence
Bring your target universities, earliest deadline, preferred test date and a recent Bluebook practice result. MKS Education can help organise an eight-week guided plan with flexible learning modes, recordings, app practice, books, six-month access and continued support.

What Geometry and Trigonometry topics are on the SAT?
The domain includes area and volume, lines angles and triangles, right triangles and trigonometry, and circles.
Can I trust the SAT diagram to be drawn to scale?
Use stated facts and standard markings rather than estimating lengths or angles from appearance.
Which trigonometric ratios should I know?
Understand sine cosine and tangent in right triangles and identify opposite adjacent and hypotenuse relative to the reference angle.
How do scale factors affect area and volume?
A length factor k produces an area factor k squared and a volume factor k cubed for similar figures.
Can MKS guarantee Geometry improvement?
MKS can teach concepts and review errors, but cannot guarantee a score or fixed result.
Plan your application with MKS Education
MKS Education is a study abroad consultancy opposite Shankerdev Campus in Putalisadak, Kathmandu. We help Nepali students review profiles, shortlist universities and courses, prepare applications, organise documents, research scholarships, and plan CAS and visa-file stages using current official sources. Universities and immigration authorities make all admission and visa decisions.
