Separate the official test fee from preparation and application costs
A complete IELTS budget has more than one line. Knowing which payment buys the official test prevents confusion and protects families from informal or outdated payment instructions.
The official test fee is paid as part of registration with an authorised IELTS partner. It does not normally include a private preparation course. MKS Education’s IELTS teaching, books, recordings, app access and extended support are a separate service, so students should request the current course fee and inclusions independently from the provider’s exam fee.
Choose the product before comparing amounts. IELTS Academic and General Training can share a standard computer fee, while IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills are separate products. Do not select UKVI simply because the destination is the United Kingdom; confirm the exact requirement from the visa route, university or receiving organisation.
The current British Council Nepal page lists NPR 36,000 for IELTS on Computer Academic and General Training, NPR 36,400 for IELTS for UKVI on Computer and NPR 29,000 for UKVI Life Skills A1 and B1. IDP Nepal also publishes fee information and a live booking system. Because provider pages and checkout details can be updated, recheck them on the day of payment rather than relying only on this fact-check date.
Budget beyond the initial test. Travel to the chosen venue, a passport renewal, score-delivery services, transfer or cancellation, an Enquiry on Results, One Skill Retake or a second test may create additional costs depending on circumstances. Do not assume these services are included or available; read the current policy before making a non-refundable application plan.
Use only official payment instructions linked from the registration process. Confirm the legal payee, reference number and required proof. Save screenshots or receipts and wait for the official booking confirmation. A payment sent to an individual or an unverified account is not made safer by a discounted claim.
