GMAT Trial Class and Diagnostic Test in Kathmandu
Use a trial class to inspect how teaching works and a current official-format diagnostic to convert strengths and gaps into a realistic preparation plan.
The trial checks teacher fit while the diagnostic checks the learning starting point
Combining both gives Nepali students and parents stronger evidence than selecting a course from a brochure, fee discount or promised score.
Use the trial class to inspect the explanation cycle. A teacher should define the decision being tested, demonstrate a method, invite the student to apply it, identify why an option fails and assign a fresh check. For Quant, look for reasoning and translation rather than unexplained shortcuts. For Verbal, require passage or argument evidence rather than intuition. For Data Insights, ask how the teacher selects relevant information, evaluates sufficiency and manages tables, graphics and multi-source material.
Keep the diagnostic aligned with the current exam. GMAC’s official preparation guidance says candidates should study the structure, understand the question types and use Official Practice Exam 1 to establish a baseline. The current exam contains Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning and Data Insights. A centre should not diagnose current readiness through retired Sentence Correction content, unrelated advanced mathematics or a paper-only test that ignores computer timing and navigation.
Record more than one total number. For every section, classify content knowledge, reasoning, option elimination, calculation, pacing and attention errors. Mark questions that were correct only after a guess or excessive time, because they may still need instruction. Note when performance drops across the section. The goal is a priority map for teaching and practice, not a label such as weak or strong.
Protect official practice. GMAC provides the Free Official Starter Kit with sample questions and two full-length practice exams. Use a full official baseline when the student can sit in quiet test-like conditions and has first reviewed the interface and section rules. If the student is completely unfamiliar with the exam, begin with a shorter orientation and representative questions, then schedule the full baseline. Afterward, study explanations and save later official forms for meaningful checkpoints.
Ask the institute to turn the diagnostic into a written plan. The plan should name two or three immediate priorities, weekly study hours, lesson order, targeted sets, teacher-feedback points, recording and app assignments, book work, official mock timing and the earliest application deadline. A trial class has little value if every student receives the same generic schedule regardless of the evidence.
MKS Education offers a GMAT discussion, trial-class and diagnostic pathway subject to the current timetable and seats. The learning system connects physical, online and hybrid classes, recordings in every mode, iOS and Android practice, physical books, an eight-week guided course, six-month access and continued support. Students needing repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge subject to schedules and seats. MKS does not promise a score, admission, scholarship or funding.
Diagnose first
Use a current official-format baseline and classify Quant Verbal and Data Insights errors before choosing weekly priorities.
Match the goal
Connect the test date and preparation schedule to official programme and scholarship deadlines.
Verify claims
Use mba.com and official business-school pages for changing format, fees, dates and score-use policies.
Turn the comparison into checks you can verify
Use the same questions for every provider and save the written answer. A transparent system is easier to compare than a headline promise.
| Check | Why it matters | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Teacher explanation | Shows whether methods are teachable. | One concept demonstration application and feedback. |
| Current Quant | Old or unrelated mathematics can mislead. | Arithmetic algebra Problem Solving and reasoning. |
| Current Verbal | Evidence matters more than intuition. | Reading Comprehension and Critical Reasoning. |
| Data Insights | The section integrates words numbers and data. | Five current question families and review method. |
| Question source | Authenticity affects diagnostic validity. | Official baseline plus clearly labelled foundation work. |
| Test conditions | Interruptions distort the baseline. | Quiet timing allowed tools and one sitting. |
| Error categories | A total score hides teachable causes. | Wrong guessed slow skipped and careless responses. |
| Priority plan | The diagnostic must change instruction. | Top gaps lesson sequence and weekly hours. |
| Feedback | Students need to understand each correction. | Cause method fresh question and retest. |
| Learning access | Practice continues between classes. | Recordings app books and support period. |
| Trial terms | A demo should not create pressure. | Time format teacher seat and any current charge. |
| No guarantee | A baseline is not a forecast. | Evidence-based targets without score promises. |

Practical next steps
- Bring target programmes deadlines and available weekly hours to the discussion.
- Observe one real Quant Verbal or Data Insights explanation in the trial.
- Take the diagnostic under controlled conditions and record guessed and slow answers.
- Ask for a written priority plan before selecting the batch.
Mistakes to avoid
- Do not treat a sales presentation as a teaching trial.
- Do not diagnose the current GMAT with retired question types.
- Do not consume repeated official full tests without review.
- Do not accept a guaranteed score based on one baseline.
Prepare for the GMAT exam students now take
GMAC lists three 45-minute sections, 64 questions and 2 hours 15 minutes of testing, plus one optional 10-minute break.
Quantitative Reasoning
Twenty-one Problem Solving questions test arithmetic, elementary algebra, logic and analytical problem solving without a calculator.
Verbal Reasoning
Twenty-three Reading Comprehension and Critical Reasoning questions test understanding and argument evaluation.
Data Insights
Twenty questions combine quantitative, verbal and data literacy across five current question families, with an on-screen calculator.
Build your GMAT plan from diagnostic evidence

What should happen in a GMAT trial class?
You should see a real current-GMAT explanation, attempt representative work, ask questions and receive feedback that shows the next learning step.
Is a GMAT diagnostic test a score guarantee?
No. A diagnostic identifies a starting point and priorities; it cannot guarantee an official score or admission outcome.
Should I use an official GMAT practice exam for diagnosis?
GMAC recommends Official Practice Exam 1 for a baseline. Use it under controlled conditions and review it carefully rather than consuming official forms repeatedly.
Does MKS offer a GMAT diagnostic discussion?
MKS can discuss a diagnostic and suitable learning pathway subject to the current timetable, staff and seat availability.
Can weak students repeat suitable MKS classes?
Students needing repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge, subject to current schedules, seats and academic fit.
