Study Pharmacy in the UK

Studying pharmacy in the UK can lead toward pharmacist registration or toward non-registered pharmaceutical science careers, depending on the course. Applicants from Nepal must distinguish an accredited MPharm from pharmacology or pharmaceutical sciences and plan for foundation training and the registration assessment.

Nottingham’s 2026 MPharm is a four-year, GPhC-accredited course with placements in every year. It lists chemistry plus another science in its standard entry profile and states that graduates must then complete the one-year foundation training to become registered pharmacists.

Entry requirements

UK universities assess Nepalese qualifications under their own policies. Do not convert a percentage or GPA into a UK classification yourself. Ask the university to confirm equivalence and check science prerequisites, English components, occupational health, character checks, interviews and placement eligibility.

Accreditation and professional recognition

The General Pharmaceutical Council says the MPharm is the first part of the route to registration as a pharmacist in Great Britain. Applicants should choose a GPhC-accredited degree, then complete the required foundation training and satisfy the current registration assessment and registration criteria. Overseas-qualified pharmacists may have an OSPAP route if eligible. Pharmaceutical science, pharmacology and pharmacy technician routes are distinct.
