Choose the correct route

Use Nipissing’s direct or authorised-agent application portal

The official page separates direct international applicants from partner-agent submissions.

Nipissing directs international students studying abroad or in Canada on a study permit to its International Application portal for direct applicants. Nipissing partner agents use a separate agent portal. A student in an Ontario-curriculum school may use the specified OUAC route, so applicant type must be confirmed before starting.

Select the exact undergraduate, post-baccalaureate or graduate program, start term and study mode. Nursing, Physical and Health Education, Social Work, Education and graduate programs can have limited enrolment, supplements or distinct deadlines. A general international application page does not replace the individual program checklist.

Map Nepal SEE, Plus Two, diploma and university history to the intended level and prerequisites. Prepare complete official transcripts, WES evaluation only if requested, gap information and program supplements. Explain how named Nipissing courses provide new learning and a realistic Nepal career link rather than relying on Canadian migration expectations.

Check general and Nursing language requirements

Nipissing publishes higher minima for Nursing applicants.

The current international page lists IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in reading, listening, speaking and writing for programs other than Nursing. For Nursing it lists IELTS 7.0 overall with at least 6.5 in every skill. Applicants must use the rule for the exact program and current intake.

The page also lists TOEFL, PTE, CAEL, Cambridge and defined exemption pathways. A Nepal medium-of-instruction letter is not automatically one of those pathways. Review the exact consecutive-study and country conditions and obtain written guidance when uncertain instead of assuming an exemption.

Keep the official test result valid and consistent with the application identity. Graduate and BEd routes can apply separate rules, and English used for university admission is not the same as language evidence IRCC may require for a later PGWP. Verify each requirement at its own decision date.

Use Nipissing’s interactive tuition and residence pages

The selected semester and program determine the fee output.

Nipissing’s international tuition page requires the user to select a semester and program and explains that three-credit courses are half courses and six-credit courses are full courses. Use the relevant filter for the intended intake, save the result and verify it against the eventual student account.

Other mandatory fees can become non-refundable after the session starts, and the university notes that a 1.5 percent monthly late fee may be assessed on outstanding balances. Add service, course, laboratory, insurance and other applicable charges and read the current withdrawal and credit dates before registering.

Build a North Bay living budget with residence or private housing, food, utilities, transport, books, winter clothing, travel and emergency funds. The residence page publishes separate application and deposit terms; the reviewed 2026 page referenced a CAD 400 residence deposit for qualifying international undergraduate students. Verify availability and the live deadline before relying on it.

Review refunds DLI PAL and PGWP eligibility

A complete application can still face separate admission and immigration assessments.

Nipissing states that international applicants should contact International Admissions for decision timelines and that a file is complete only after required documents arrive. Do not treat a generic 21-business-day statement for another applicant class as an international promise. Track outstanding items in the portal.

IRCC lists Nipissing University’s North Bay campus as a public DLI. Confirm the exact credential, duration and delivery for PGWP purposes and review any current language or field-of-study rule. DLI status and an offer do not guarantee a study permit, PGWP or later immigration outcome.

Prepare a valid LOA, PAL or exemption evidence when required, current financial proof and a truthful study purpose tied to Nepal. MKS Education can compare programs, review academics and English, organise funding and help build a consistent timeline. Nipissing and Canadian authorities retain every decision.

Keep a dated evidence file before submission

A search result or counselling note can become outdated between shortlisting and application. Create one folder containing the official pages relied on, the date each page was checked, written answers from the institution, the final fee and refund terms, and the exact application files submitted.

When a policy changes, compare the new instruction with the student’s application date, credential, institution, campus and personal status before deciding what applies. Do not silently replace an old document or reinterpret a rule from a headline. If the effect is uncertain, pause payment or submission and obtain clarification from the responsible authority or a properly authorised professional.

This evidence trail also improves counselling quality. The student and family can see which facts are confirmed, which are estimates and which remain conditional. MKS Education uses this approach to support transparent education planning while leaving admission and immigration decisions with the relevant institutions and Canadian authorities.
