IELTS Preparation Checklist Before Test Day Nepal 2026
Confirm the booked test, identity document, time, venue and test-centre instructions before using the final days for calm reviewed practice.
Finish preparation without creating avoidable test-day problems
The last week should confirm logistics, stabilise the computer workflow and review recurring errors instead of adding large amounts of unfamiliar material.
Start with the booking record rather than memory. Verify your name, test module, delivery format, date, reporting time, venue and Speaking appointment from the latest official confirmation. Check whether Listening, Reading and Writing are on computer and whether the booked Nepal product uses Writing on computer or the newer Writing on Paper option. IDP states that traditional IELTS on Paper in Nepal ended after 27 June 2026 and separately describes the Writing on Paper product available from 1 July 2026, so the exact booking confirmation—not an old preparation note—must control your test-day plan.
Read the official IELTS test-day guidance. It says to bring the same identification document used for booking and warns that the wrong or missing ID can stop the candidate from taking the test. Store the original document safely the night before and check its validity and physical condition. Do not rely on a photograph or unapproved substitute. If the booking details or identification have a problem, contact the authorised test centre before test day rather than expecting staff to change the record at the venue.
Prepare the journey and room rules. Leave enough time for Kathmandu traffic, weather, parking and building security, and save the centre’s official contact details without assuming a late arrival will be accepted. IELTS instructs candidates to leave personal belongings outside the test room, switch off phones and other electronic devices, and avoid bringing valuables. Watches are not allowed in the test room. Food is not permitted, while water is allowed in a clear transparent bottle under the general guidance. The centre’s local confirmation can impose more specific instructions, so read it completely.
Use the final 48 hours for controlled practice. Complete one realistic timed review only if it will provide useful feedback and enough recovery time. Revisit the error log, typing habits, spelling, Reading navigation, Listening volume routine, Writing timing and Speaking fluency. Do not memorise scripts or attempt a last-minute collection of predicted questions. Official IELTS guidance states that Listening, Reading and Writing run in one session of about 2 hours 40 minutes with no breaks, so practise sustained concentration and use the toilet before entering the room.
Protect sleep, food and decision quality. Prepare a normal meal, hydrate sensibly, stop intense practice early enough to rest and set more than one alarm. On arrival, follow staff identity and security checks calmly. Read each instruction, monitor the visible room or screen clock and report a technical problem immediately instead of trying to solve equipment yourself. After the test, keep the booking and candidate records, note any authorised follow-up instruction and wait for the official result channel. A good checklist cannot guarantee a band, but it prevents preparation from being undermined by avoidable logistics.
Start from evidence
Match the class plan to your current score profile, application requirement and realistic test date.
Review the feedback
Useful feedback explains the error, links it to an IELTS criterion and gives a concrete next practice step.
Prepare for delivery
Build language skill and the computer workflow together before a timed official test.
Use this checklist before paying or booking
Ask the centre for current written information. The table turns general marketing language into verifiable questions.
| Check | Why it matters | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Seven days before | Recheck module format date time venue and Speaking details | Latest official confirmation email or portal |
| Five days before | Complete a reviewed timed mock in the booked workflow | Use errors to set the final revision list |
| Three days before | Reduce the plan to recurring high-value weaknesses | No new strategy collection or memorised scripts |
| Two days before | Confirm route travel time and centre contact | Allow for traffic weather and building access |
| One day before | Place the original booking ID in a safe visible location | It must match the document used to register |
| One day before | Check phone alarms meal water and clothing | Avoid valuables and unnecessary belongings |
| Test morning | Read the latest local instructions again | Follow the stated reporting time not only test start |
| At the venue | Switch off electronics and store belongings as directed | No watch or unauthorised item in the room |
| During the test | Follow supervisor and on-screen instructions | Report technical issues immediately |
| After the test | Keep candidate and result-access records | Use only authorised result and enquiry channels |
What makes the MKS IELTS learning system different
Classroom teaching, revision, independent practice and longer support work as one system instead of separate add-ons.
Three learning modes
Choose physical, online or hybrid learning and confirm the current timetable that fits your routine.
Recordings for every mode
Physical, online and hybrid students can revisit lessons and catch up on missed work.
iOS and Android access
Continue structured IELTS practice beyond the live class through the MKS digital system.
Physical books
Use organised print materials together with digital practice instead of scattered files.
Six-month access
The eight-week guided course connects to six-month learning access and continued support.
Multiple suitable classes
Students needing more repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge.
Keep every section inside the same improvement loop
Attempt, diagnose, correct, repeat and retest. Your overall goal should never hide a required section minimum.
A balanced weekly routine
- Review Listening distractors, spelling and paraphrase recognition rather than only counting correct answers.
- Track Reading accuracy by question type and add timed sections only after the method is stable.
- Use the official Writing criteria to revise task response, organisation, vocabulary and grammar.
- Record Speaking answers and review fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation without memorising scripts.
- Keep an error log and use the next mock to test whether the correction actually worked.
Before enrolment
- Confirm Academic or General Training and the required overall and section bands.
- Ask for the current timetable, fee, inclusions, teacher-feedback process and access period in writing.
- Test the commute, device, internet and study hours needed for the chosen class mode.
- Ask how the centre handles missed classes, weak skills and a test date later than the live course.
Before the official test
- Check the authorised test partner for current dates, locations, fees and delivery options.
- Use the same computer workflow and timing that you will face on test day.
- Book only after your reviewed practice evidence supports the planned date.
- Keep the application deadline and result-delivery time inside the booking decision.

Verify live IELTS information
What identification should I bring to IELTS test day in Nepal?
Bring the same original identification document used when booking. Official IELTS guidance warns that a wrong or missing ID can prevent you from taking the test.
Can I take my phone or smartwatch into the IELTS test room?
No. Phones and electronic devices must be switched off and stored with personal belongings, and watches are not allowed in the test room. Follow the centre’s storage instructions.
Can I take food or water into the IELTS test room?
Food is not allowed under the general IELTS test-day guidance. Water may be taken in a clear transparent bottle, subject to any stricter local centre instruction.
Should I take a full mock test the day before IELTS?
Usually use the last day for light reviewed practice, logistics and rest. A late full mock is useful only when it supports confidence and leaves time to recover and review.
How does MKS prepare students for IELTS test day?
MKS combines computer familiarisation, timed mock review, error-log revision, recordings, books and app practice without promising an official band score.
