This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information when you visit mks.edu.np, contact us, submit an inquiry, or use our study-abroad counselling and test-preparation services.

By submitting information through our website, you confirm that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to provide it. Where a form asks for consent, we will use your contact details to respond to that inquiry.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Your name, mobile number, and email address;
  • Your country, university, course, test, or study destination of interest;
  • Information included in your inquiry or message;
  • Academic, language-test, financial, application, or document information that you choose to provide during counselling;
  • Records of communications and services requested from MKS Education; and
  • Any other information you voluntarily provide by phone, email, online form, or in person.

Information collected automatically

When you use our website, our hosting platform and website software may automatically process technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, pages visited, date and time of access, and security or error logs. We may also use a short-lived cookie to avoid counting repeated page views more than once within a 24-hour period.

2. How we use your information

We may use personal information to:

  • Respond to inquiries and arrange counselling;
  • Recommend suitable destinations, institutions, courses, tests, or application steps;
  • Provide education counselling, application support, document guidance, and test-preparation services;
  • Contact you about the service or information you requested;
  • Maintain service, inquiry, and communication records;
  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve our website and services;
  • Measure website usage in an aggregated manner;
  • Prevent spam, misuse, fraud, and security incidents; and
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, accounting, or administrative requirements.

We will not use your contact information for unrelated promotional communication where consent is required, and you may ask us to stop promotional communication at any time.

3. Legal grounds for processing

Where applicable, we process personal information because:

  • You have asked us to take steps or provide a service;
  • You have given consent;
  • Processing is necessary for our legitimate interests in operating and securing our services, provided those interests do not override your rights; or
  • We must comply with a legal obligation.

4. How we share information

We may share relevant information only when reasonably necessary with:

  • Authorised MKS Education staff and counsellors;
  • Website hosting, email, security, analytics, communications, and other service providers working on our behalf;
  • Universities, colleges, testing organisations, application platforms, insurers, financial institutions, visa-related service providers, or government authorities when you ask us to assist with an application or related service;
  • Professional advisers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies, or courts where disclosure is legally required or necessary to protect rights and safety; and
  • A successor organisation in connection with a lawful merger, restructuring, or transfer of the business.

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Third parties that receive information for their own services may process it under their own privacy policies and legal obligations.

5. International transfers

Study-abroad services may require information to be sent to institutions, service providers, or authorities outside Nepal. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from Nepalese law. We share only information reasonably necessary for the requested service and use appropriate safeguards where required and available.

6. Cookies and external services

Our website may use essential cookies needed for security, forms, preferences, and website operation, as well as a 24-hour page-view cookie. The site may also link to or embed services operated by third parties, such as maps, videos, social media, or university websites. Those services may collect technical information or set their own cookies when you interact with them.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent some website features from working correctly.

7. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to inquiries, delivering services, maintaining legitimate business records, resolving disputes, preventing abuse, and meeting legal or regulatory duties. Retention periods may vary according to the type of record and service. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete, anonymise, or securely dispose of it.

8. Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. However, no website, email system, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please avoid sending highly sensitive documents through an unsecured channel unless our team has asked you to do so and provided an appropriate method.

9. Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable law and appropriate identity verification, you may ask us to:

  • Confirm whether we hold personal information about you;
  • Provide access to or a copy of that information;
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • Delete information that we no longer need or are not legally required to retain;
  • Withdraw consent for future processing where consent is the basis of processing;
  • Object to or request a restriction on certain processing; or
  • Stop sending promotional communications.

Some requests may be limited where retention or processing is required by law, necessary to complete a requested service, or needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

10. Children’s privacy

Some test-preparation or education services may be relevant to students under 18. A minor should provide personal information only with the knowledge and involvement of a parent or legal guardian. Parents or guardians may contact us to review or request correction or deletion of a minor’s information, subject to applicable legal and service requirements.

Our website contains links to universities, government bodies, testing organisations, maps, and other external websites. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their privacy practices, content, or security. Please review their privacy notices before providing personal information.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our services, technology, or legal obligations. The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through an appropriate notice on the website.
