A competitive business-school plan needs three connected measures

A headline score does not identify the applicant’s starting level, Data Insights gaps, available study hours or the evidence expected by target programmes.

Begin with the GMAT exam students currently take. GMAC lists three 45-minute sections: Quantitative Reasoning with 21 questions, Verbal Reasoning with 23 questions and Data Insights with 20 questions. The full exam contains 64 questions and lasts 2 hours and 15 minutes, plus one optional 10-minute break. A current class should teach this structure, flexible section order, pacing and the Question Review & Edit feature without relying on lessons for the previous GMAT edition.

Ask for a diagnostic before accepting a score target. A total score can hide very different needs: arithmetic or algebra translation, Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, Data Sufficiency, Multi-Source Reasoning, Table Analysis, Graphics Interpretation or Two-Part Analysis. The class should record wrong, guessed, slow and skipped questions, identify whether the cause is knowledge, reasoning, timing or carelessness, and convert that evidence into weekly priorities.

Official practice matters because the format, scoring context and test interface should come from GMAC. The free GMAT Official Starter Kit and Practice Exams 1 & 2 are available through an mba.com account, while official sample questions introduce current question types. A strong class adds teaching, accountability, error analysis and follow-up practice instead of presenting free official material as an institute-created product.

Review teacher access separately from lecture hours. Ask how Quant assumptions are explained, how Verbal argument and passage evidence is evaluated, and how mixed quantitative, verbal and graphical information is handled in Data Insights. A mock becomes useful only when the student can explain the mistake, learn a better decision and prove the correction on fresh questions rather than immediately taking another full test.

Fit preparation to the business-school timeline. MBA and business master’s programmes can require, accept, waive or decline to use the GMAT, and competitive context differs by school and programme. Check each current official admissions page before setting the target and test date. Work backward from the earliest application or scholarship deadline, leaving time for preparation, official testing, score reporting and a possible retake without assuming one will be necessary.

MKS Education combines physical, online and hybrid GMAT classes with recordings in every mode, iOS and Android practice, physical books, an eight-week guided course, six-month learning access and continued support. Students needing additional repetition may join suitable classes without another class charge, subject to the current schedule and seats. These features support preparation but do not guarantee a score or admission result.

Diagnose first

Use a current official-format baseline and classify Quant Verbal and Data Insights errors before choosing weekly priorities.

Match the goal

Connect the test date and preparation schedule to official programme and scholarship deadlines.

Verify claims

Use mba.com and official business-school pages for changing format, fees, dates and score-use policies.

Evidence table

Turn the comparison into checks you can verify

Use the same questions for every provider and save the written answer. A transparent system is easier to compare than a headline promise.
