Admission Requirements for International Students

Academic Requirements:

  • High School Diploma: Completion of secondary education equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma
  • Transcripts: Official academic records from all secondary schools attended
  • Standardized Tests: Optional SAT or ACT scores; however, submitting scores may enhance your application ​

English Proficiency:

  • TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 80
  • IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5
  • Duolingo English Test: Minimum score of 110
  • Other Tests: PTE Academic and iTEP are also accepted ​

Note: If you have completed four years of high school instruction in English or have 30 semester units of college-level English Composition from a U.S. institution, you may be eligible for a waiver of the English proficiency requirement.

Application Process:

  1. Application: Submit the Common Application or the Cal Lutheran application
  2. Application Fee: $50 (fee waivers are available for eligible students)
  3. Essays/Personal Statements: Required as part of the application
  4. Letters of Recommendation: At least one from a teacher or counselor
  5. Financial Documentation: Proof of sufficient funds to cover tuition and living expenses
  6. Visa Documentation: Upon admission, you’ll receive an I-20 form to apply for an F-1 student visa ​
